Far Realms would be absolutely splendid...save that I want it to have a book all its own.

Complete Bats#&t, the ultimate guide to the Insanity power source.

Hmm, people might think it's about the Fireball spell, though.

Like the four food groups? I can see it now...

Meats = Striker
Dairy = Controler
Grains = Leader
Fruits/Vegetables = Defender (against colon cancer, at least)

I'm A Banana

Potassium-Rich
Meats = Striker
Dairy = Controler
Grains = Leader
Fruits/Vegetables = Defender (against colon cancer, at least)

Hahahahaha, I like this idea. It's a little hilariously "Edutainment."

The goverment has contacted game designers and toy companies offering subsidies for providing "educational" toys to combat child obesity.

D&D wins this subsidy by producing a "balanced deit" power source where what you eat effects how well you do your job!

Complete Bats#&t, the ultimate guide to the Insanity power source.

We'd have:
Controller = Pseudonatural Summoner (calls down unnatural creatures to affect enemies)
Defender = Master of Many Tentacles (grapples + many attacks + added reach...)
Striker = Dimensional Thief (short dimension hops and guerilla terror tactics)
Leader = Cabalist (makes sure others' powers don't hurt them as much, uses aggregated insanity to inspire mobs)

Using 3e as a point of reference, we almost have the four pillars for ki:
Striker = Ninja
Defender = ???
Controller = Monk
Leader = Samurai

I cannot overemphasize how much I hope they don't make a "ki" power source.

Edward Said would be spinning in his grave. If he had played D&D before dying.

Oh, I think Edward Said would be fine with the way Oriental Adventures panned out. It's blatantly Orientalist, intentionally so, in the ways Said outlined. They clearly and specifically play on Western fantasies of the East, and aren't meant to portray actual historical precedent, just as the core D&D rules don't simulate Medieval Europe particularly well. Once you accept that it's all pulp fantasy, you can embrace the pulpiness--and Orientalism--of OA.

I'm a huge proponent of Said's views, by the way. I went to two of his speeches before he passed away.

Just thinking about it and, depending on the flavor they're going for, Nature could work for bard, too.

I still like a new framework for the class, though, developed around music/passion somehow.

Sources should be broad groups that do not encompass very specific niches. For instance Ki and Psionic should be together, bardic music, elemental, illusion, and arcane magic should be together, artifice and martial should be together, and divine and philosophical sources could be together too.

The ones that I can see as the most likely to be added would be:
Psionic: telekinesis, telepathy, and body control
Shadowfell: necromancy, shadow magic, warlock aspect etc
Feywild: druid, animal shapechanging, warlock aspect etc
infernal (arcane): warlock aspect probably not a power source in of itself.
