I Humbly Ask Your Advice...

[shameless plug] If you and your players have got the time and inclination, you could try and generate your own 1st level PCs from scratch. I know PrRC is far from perfect, but there is enough known to get a pretty close approximation. The connection with their own characters might be worth a +1 or +2 error in a few of their stats. Granted, power selection is pretty meagre, but even having the option to generate their own ability scores and pick a race could be worth the effort.

At the other end of the spectrum, if you think your players are predisposed to disliking 4e, for whatever reason, you may better served waiting for the books to come out. You only get one chance to make a first impression, and if your players aren't already on the 'band-waggon' you might find yourself fighting an uphill battle later on.

Good luck!

Nah, my players aren't against 4E in any visible/audible way. It's just new, and I was just trying to find ways to make the experience more enjoyable in general. Since its going to be a 4E adventure, I was just wonder what everyone elso who played a 4E adventure thought made the game better.

And I already downloaded the PrRC (very nice I might add). I will certainly allow them the option of making their own characters, but in the absence of the official rules, I'm willing to bet that they will simply use the Pre-Gen's just out of convienence. The PrRC is a an awesome substitute though, and if they wish to swap out certain things about their characters, I will certainly allow them too.

Thanks for your imput. :)

Olgar, I loved raiders, but I'm going to have to disagree with this statement. Nothing is better than the sweetness of a Ham and Pineapple pizza. You american's are just too unrefined. :)

"Hawaiian" and "pizza" should never be allowed to collide in the same sentence. Yuck.

OP: Make them come in costume.

Blasphemy! Hawaiian is the One True Pizza!

Agreed! But then again, I also like anchovies as a pizza topping...

My wife is Japanese and they actually eat mayo on pizza.

Its Japanese mayo though, so it does have quite a different taste than American mayo, but its still a crime against nature...

I would honestly disagree here about having them make their own characters. I think the entire process is a bit easier to get into by using the pre-mades and finding a way to personalize them than to create characters from scratch - not the least reason of which is that this takes much longer and with the premades you can just jump right in. I feel if they're just getting their feet wet and trying it out for the first time, the pre-mades should be servicable. If they want a second session after that though, then I'd say either try out a new pre-made or try to make something. Hope it goes well!
