I lost a 3rd level character...and I need another one!

What kind of Fighter are you looking for?

Hobgoblin supports most kinds of Fighters pretty easily, but gets difficult to interact with, socially. If you're going for light support, a Hobgoblin Fighter/Rogue is pretty smooth.

Most Fighters (and most classes) benefit a lot from being Human, too. The extra skill is badly needed, and the extra feat is always useful.

If you're going to go Fighter/Cleric, you'll need a decent Dex to compensate for your crappy, crappy Reflex save. What god are you considering being a Cleric of?

Why a Fighter?

Is there any specific reason you want a fighter instead of a Paladin, Barbarian, Monk, or Ranger?

I suggest going for a Dwarven Fighter, and multi-classing into either Rogue (for the sneak attack and skills) or Cleric.

Alternativly, you could take a Human / Half Elven / Elven / Half Orc, and go for Fighter/Druid. Being able to Wild Shape and using a high BaB can get very fun very fast.

Well three ideas I'm going for (more feats are fine...but I don't really need them. I'm the tank. Therefore damage and a few key feats are fine by me)

If you're a tank, go with a Dwarf fighter/cleric. +2 Con and +2 to Magic saves make Dwarves the best tanks in the game.

Consider a level of Barbarian for the extra speed and the Rage (the +2 to Will saves is especially useful). Your already high Con will ensure a nice long rage.

Oh do the Half-Ogre . . . you know you want to! :p

Believe San it's crossed my mind a lot. :D

Zath,
While dwarf is nice, I want something different...and the fact an Average Slitheren Con score is +6...makes dwarf a little weak. Though Half Ogre is only +4...it's not too bad.

Lord Z,

Reason is the party is a scouting party, and even scouts need a little support now and then. I would just go cleric...but I prefer not to be the "patch em" type. (Not how I enjoy the clerical class IMHO.) Barbarian is an option...but I want a little civility and/or just plain fighter powers. ;) Monks...Bleh. I'm sorry but I don't care much for monks in 3rd (no offense Kor!) If I go fighter/druid, it's only for the Slitheren. I prefer to remain "true" the ideals of where Slitheren came from.

If I go cleric, Kor, Probably be one of the martial gods. (Which ever one has War or else Retribution.)

I cast in my vote... Try to stay within the PHB and FRCS races, willya? Okay, half-ogre is still good, but I think gnolls and skaven are a bit too far out there, especially considering most of the group is not only good-aligned, but also trigger-happy. In addition, I would avoid making a gnoll character at this time, when Savage Species is just around the corner and we know they'll be statted as a character race in Unapproachable East. Other than that, I think the ideas presented here are sound and good. :)

And for the rest of you... We play in the same campaign. The group is scouting detachment of a mercenary company. My character is a pyromaniac gnome with a gun fetish. Don't ask.

Well looks like it might be the classless Half Ogre...That said how about a Earth Genasi Ni? :) (The other choice is Aasimar.)

Never seen one of those in action... I'd certainly like to! Looking forward to meeting whoever you decide to write up. :D
