Nope he's male and no courtesan. He's more of "I serve Tempus, honorably!" and will listen to orders. (Mostly.) Besides I may get Angel Marie ressurrected. (Course the cost of a True Ressurrection is probably very costly...)
Yes it is Xar, but unfortunately the people I work with wouldn't take to it too well.

I can't spell, so sorry if it caused you some confusion. It's MANticora. (my bad) They were created by Vangal to be sort of his "elite" people. Feral and with claws and sharp teeth, they usually run around killing LOTS of stuff. And not they CAN take to FR. Just the party make up wouldn't deal well with a Slitheren of ANY sort. Gnoll either. Forget the fancy stuff. Just start with a human barbarian. At 3rd he becomes a fighter and stays there.

If I were to take a slitheren, that would be a Red Witch Barbarian. Aren't they considered having the spellcasting capacity of a sorcerer whose level is equal to their HD ?
An Earth Genasi could be nice for a tank.
Also, for a different tank, the svirfneblin monk (I know you said you don't like monk) is incredibly hard to hit. Or an arctic dwark (Inugaakalikurit). First, it's even funnier than svirfneblin to pronounce without mistake, and then it's the twinkest tank race I can think of (small size yet an insane racial bonus to Str, immune to cold, etc.). But the DM may assign it an overkill (read: reasonnable) ECL.
