Steadfast Perception

Ha! Found my backup copy of my spell conversion document. (Thought I'd lost it in my HDD crash in June, but I lucked out with this document.) Without further ado:

Resolute Perception
Abjuration
Level: Sor/Wiz 3
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: One standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target: One creature/level, no two of which can be more than 30 ft. apart
Duration: 1 min/lvl
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)
This spell grounds the recipient’s mind in base reality, encouraging it to refuse illusory and transitory events and spells.
Those warded by the spell gain a +2 bonus on their saving throws against illusion spells. It similarly affects any condition that works directly on mental perceptions , and may (at the DM’s discretion) reduce or eliminate disorientation penalties from rapid or extreme changes in perspective.
Material Components: A small mirror, a lodestone, and a drop of fresh water.
Source: College of Wizardry (converted by Eridanis on the ENworld boards)

Notes: Renamed from Steadfast Perception to avoid confusion with the 4th level psionic warrior power of that name. Old school was Enchantment/Charm. Old effect was 2 creatures per five caster levels, but this is a pretty weak effect for a third-level spell, so I increased it

Adamant Grasp

Adamant Grasp
Transmutation
Level: Sor/Wiz 4
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: One standard action
Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Target: One creature capable of holding tools
Duration: 1 hour/level
Saving Throw: Fortitude negates
Spell Resistance: Yes
This spell supernaturally enhances the grasping power of the hand to phenomenal power. The next thing grasped by the hand chosen by the caster is held in an unbreakable grip until the spell expires. The spell may be used on an existing grip, if desired.
If this spell is used on an unwilling recipient, a failed save means a DC 25 Strength check is required to break one’s hold on the object.
Material Components: A tightly wound coil of stiff iron wire and a tuft of hair from a stone giant.
Source: College of Wizardry (converted by Eridanis on the ENworld boards)

Estrange

Estrange
Enchantment (Charm) [Mind-affecting]
Level: Sor/Wiz 7
Components: V, S
Casting Time: One standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Area: 20 ft. radius
Duration: 1 minute/3 caster levels
Saving Throw: Will negates
Spell Resistance: Yes
This spell prevents affected creatures from cooperating with their friends and allies, or having much liking for them. Those who fail their saving throws suddenly regard nearby friends and allies in the opposite fashion: friends become hated acquaintances and allies become enemies. The caster does not control the estranged individuals; affected creatures do not suddenly regard the caster as a friend, nor will the affected ignore a deadly threat from the caster and his allies.
Suggestions, orders, verbal remarks, and actions of former friends will be seen in the worst possible light. In combat situations, an affected individual will tend to argue with orders or advice, taking no action or a contrary action instead of cooperating. The escape of a common enemy is insignificant compared with showing up former allies or not being shown up by them.
Individuals with Hit Dice greater than the caster’s are immune to this spell. Those normally resisitant to charm spells receive a +2 circumstance bonus on their saving throw, but can otherwise be affected as normal.

Notes: Orginal states that “those resistant to charm spells have no special resistance to this spell.” I didn’t think that was quite fair, so I added the +2 bonus to take that into account. Also, original duration was 1 turn + 1d6 turns. Decided to split the difference and make the duration 1 min/3 caster levels to come close to that.

Terminate Scrying

Terminate Scrying
Abjuration
Level: Sor/Wiz 7
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: One standard action
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: 1 day/level or until discharged
When a scrying attempt would reveal a wizard protected by this spell, that wizard knows, and can instantly terminate the scrying before clues to his location and surrounding s are revealed. A successful Spellcraft check (DC 20) reveals the scryer’s identity and general location.
The wizard can, if desired, force a magical backlash. Should the original scryer fail a Will save (DC 10+ your caster level), the disrupted spell short-circuits the mind of the scryer, causing 1d6/level damage (max 15d6). Devices such as a crystal ball, and foci such as mirrors or basins, must make an item saving throw (DC 10+ your caster level) or explosively shatter, bombarding any creatures within a 10-foot radius with shards dealing 6d6 damage (no save).
Material Components: A small piece of a mirror, a fist-sized rock suitable for breaking things, a chip of mica, and a miniature brass ear-trumpet.
Source: College of Wizardry (converted by Eridanis on the ENworld boards)

Notes: I don’t think this is a ninth-level power spell. Compare this to the 3rd-level spell Scry Retaliation from the Complete Book of Eldritch Might, which you can cast if you become aware that you are being scried, and damages the scrier, but not a scrying device. This spell hurts both scryer and device, and remains in effect for a while (original says indefinitely, but in the spirit or 3E I made it 1 day/level (should it be less?). Is 7th level a good level for the power of this spell?

I'm excited! It looks like were quickly coming up on Carroissa's Appalling Dash, one of my favorite spells from CoW. Clearly, this was an intermediate step towards Expeditious Retreat. I dig on stuff like that.

BTW, does anybody know how to get a hold of Den of Thieves(or whether it is worthwhile to do so)?

Remember that the wonderful CoW and the mediocre Bastion of Faith were the second and third installments in a three-part series.

DC is too high. Compare typical NPC wizards from "Dungeon Master's Guide" (p. 126)
* CL 15 spell has DC 25, typical wizard has Will +10
* CL 17 spell has DC 27, typical wizard has Will +11
* CL 20 spell has DC 30, typical wizard has Will +13
I know, the PC wizards will have higher Will Save, but CL is far more easier to improve, than saves.
Leave standard DC.

The same as above. No item save on higher level.

Maybe you want to compare it with simillar 3.5 spell from "Magic Of Eberron" (Scry Trap), if you wish.
