I need help planning a bit date!

First Post
So, I managed to get myself into a bit of a pickle.

I promised my girlfriend that I'd take her on a big, special date, and honestly, I've been having thinking-block when it comes to this. We are going out Sunday evening to a nice resterant (her choice) and I need to plan the rest of the evening.

I was thinking about this, and I erally have nothing. We could possibly go for a walk by the river in the early evening, but then what? UI don't want a steriotypical date where we see a movie - we are actually seeing one on Friday anyways.

In any case, any sort of general "try this" posts would really help, and the more specific you can be about it, the better. I just need somewhere to start with, and to get my juicees flowing thinking about this all.

thanks and much appreciated,

You have a good start to a nice day of conversation, etc.

Start with the walk by the river. Do it before dinner so the air is a bit warm compared to the evening. Then have dinner, walking will have given you both an appetite, and seated time will give you a chance to rest those legs.

From there, go old school on the stereotypical movie and try a play. I did a quick Google and found both Cercle Molière which seems to have something going on, but my French is too limited to really know. Hopefully yours is stronger.

Phantom of the Opera is at the Centennial Concert Hall. You could make the 7:30 pm show and get the cheap seats for about $100 for the pair of you (you didn't mention a budget).

If you want to shuffle the day around, you could visit the Winnipeg Art Gallery before dinner as the big event. They are doing guided tours of Rodin: A Magnificent Obsession. Rodin is the sculptor who did 'the Thinker' to tie that to reality. He's also known for The Kiss which is a bit more romantic (hubba hubba!) and ties into a 'special date' for you and the lady. Adults $11 / Student/Senior $9 / Youth ages 6 to 12 $6 /

Let's see, what else? You can't do a movie, may not like plays and musicals, and perhaps an art gallery would give you the hives? How about nature?

FortWhyte Alive claims to be in your area. At sunset you can watch the geese as they migrate. Outdoor activity, family friendly, and apparently hot dogs on the grill. How can it go wrong? :)

Feeling lucky? Try Assiniboia Downs for some horse racing. Don't go to become a millionaire, instead make some $1 (Canadian of course) bets, and let your lady make the picks because she brings you luck. Makes for a good pre-dinner event if you wish.

Don't like my ideas? Don't blame me! I don't live in Winnipeg! I just did some Google-fu for you and found Destination Winnipeg amongst other things.

To be honest, after dinner you could take her to an arcade and play air hockey and it would be fun. The most important part of the date is not where you go or what you do, but that you are there together, and you are putting her at the front of your attention. Sit down for some coffee and get her to talk. She'll love it. :P

Wow Grimwell, thanks so much! That's a great start to figuring out what we are going to be doing :D

And thanks for that website. I live in Winnipeg and never heard of it :uhoh::eek:

Aaron, while those are good suggestions, I guess I am trying to get away from faux-sports (bowling, pool, minigolf et al) for this date. We do that sort of stuff a lot anyways :)

Thanks to both you guys :D

cheers,
