Gender is also influenced by genetics.
The most recent thing you linked to is from 4 years, and uses hilariously outdated terminology to refer to those whose gender identities don't match their sex as assigned at birth, to say nothing that the relevent section on gender identity ends: "Overall, these genetic studies are inconclusive and a role for genes in gender identity remains unsettled."

The rest are from over a decade ago and so far behind current understandings of gender identity as to be irrelevant.

Gender is a social construct.
That's not going to anything. At least the plate mail the paladin is wearing might derail the train. The bard is just going to squish.
Consider that this might be the desired outcome :p

I don’t think Wotc will shutdown hack and slash game play,
they just open up possibilities.
Saying that orc are not always evil, don’t mean that they can’t be evil, or mean that you can’t use them as hack and slash targets. It mean that orc can be use in a more wider range of culture and behavior.
It would be interesting if WotC will literally say that in the new DMG. I think that would be helpful.

Or quickly review your country's local and national laws regarding liability so you can make a decision based on sound legal understanding.

As one normally does during an unforseen and time-sensitive ethical dillemma.

Indeed. Warning the competent authority is often enough to make you not liable : you did intervene.

In relation to Orcs specifically, I find that extremely unlikely.

In the way I've read it was done in the Guide to Ravenloft, regarding the various types of Horror and calling out things that are currently seen as potentially offensive? Very likely.

You were talking about "inherently evil" which is NOT a physical characteristic.
That's what I just said. I wasn't talking about physical characteristics. You're the one that started in on the idea that I was talking about changing gender or sex or whatever you meant there as some sort of weird, contrarian gotcha.

I do think the best way to start every D&D campaign is with an out of control wagon crashing and 1D6 gobos falling out. I apologize for letting this thread go this long without mentioning it.

I have always consider 5ed as a brilliant work done by smarts designers.
They are not fool, they are protecting the game by making some changes on subject that can lead to misinterpretation.
We play a game where we pretend to interact with evil characters, and sometime even pretend to be the evil character as players, so that can lead to a lot of misinterpretation.
DnD has more and more new players with no background in RPG.
Indeed some new players may be shock by all the possibilities that offer DnD and Wotc will use 2024 revision to prevent too big clash.
