D&D 5E I think people want the Ranger changed for the wrong reasons.

There's no one Ranger that everyone can agree on. Therefore no one Ranger class is ever going to satisfy most of the fanbase, unless the class is designed to be flexible enough in options to allow for the major variations. So far, the class design has failed to deliver on that flexibility.

The only way I think everyone could be satisfied would be to build a spell less ranger base, a magical subclass, and make animal companion into a spell. It wouldn't satisfy me, but it might satisfy enough.
