D&D 5E I think the era of 4th edition Dungeons and Dragons had it right. (not talking about the rules).

I'm jumping in late to an argument I'm not really a part of, but seriously... the answer to most of your examples is actually yes? That very much can happen. Analysis paralysis is a thing. There's a whole lot of situations where you'll get better outcomes by giving people less choices. A game can quite literally seem too big. There's also the advantage of constraints at times, having limited options to work with often gets people to employ creative solutions.

Walking into a Gaming Store can be intimidating as well. So now we are stuck with not only having to walk into a strange place but also a wall of books once inside. Double intimidation.

Please don't pull the "best selling edition" ever crock on me. If you are going to use that then you need to gather all the factors that goes along with that. Last time I heard it was best selling PHB, not edition as a whole. Just because you sell alot of these books doesn't mean you have more people playing the game. You also need to factor in the fact that you can get the book cheaper on Amazon than any other D&D book at the time it came out. Not to mention since there aren't as much content out there that more individuals are buying the PHB instead of one guy in a group buying the PHB while another may buy splatbook X for all the group to use because they are limited in their budget.

I see the way you are trying to use your claim but you aren't presenting the whole picture.

And you do? Ha!

As far as sales,
All the evidence we have (not perfect or complete, shure) so far shows it. But it seems clear to me now that evidence isn't convincing enough for you.

Why do you post these threads? Is it your trying to change wotc? I think your threads are showing them more and more that their plan is probably best.

On that note, there are several novel series that I've been recommended that I looked at and said "10 books! Screw that!" and never bothered. But a gaming system and a drama are different things.

I thought that when I started to read the Dresden Files and now I am like, Jim what the heck stop writing those other novels and give me my Dresden fix already!

LOL!!!!!

Of course we get a few of the extreme ones here to try and make it seem they are the majority.

I'm not trying to make anything seem like its anything other than what it is, my POV. After all you are the only one in this discussion apparently with more than anecdotal evidence. Well you and WOTC.

I am an analytical person which means I weigh all the factors when someone says something like this. You are clearly trying to take something and use it for your own argument when you clearly don't take all the factors into account.

I know what you are trying to do with your claim and I'm just flat out telling you that it doesn't prove what you are trying to claim.
