PS. This is a request for mods: I doubt we are in position to advise Treebore here, in public - this is highly personal and subjective issue. Please consider locking the topic.

What?

He asked for opinions.

A timid request to all participants:

Since Treebore is very upset, and for more than a single reason, please wear soft gloves when posting here.
No. If you get upset over something silly and post it all over the internet, then people on the internet call you silly. That's as basic a cause and effect relationship as you can establish.

Mr T. has a history of levelheaded, insightful and thoughtful posts. This is a change, and obviously an important one. Let's respect it.
No. Plus, Mr. T doesn't post here, as far as I know.

Why?

Would you think it was very uncool? In very bad taste? Bad form?
It depends...

... if I was in Opposite World, it would be height of bad etiquette. Honestly, asking people what they'd prefer to do? How rude! Why it smacks of democracy, of a tolerance for compromise, of the recognition people might, you know, change their minds about something. If this were Opposite World, I would demand not to be asked what I'd like to do.

Also, if this were Opposite World, I would be would be wearing a fake beard. Opposite World is full of evil counterparts who wear Beards of Evil. This includes goatees, obviously, and I can grow neither.

Now if we're talking about the Real World, and not one full of evil counterparts and ass-backwards rules of etiquette, it would be perfectly fine, perfectly polite thing to do. Merely suggesting a change of plans and then taking a vote is not 'bad form'.

Wow! how many times do I have to say it for people to comprehend it? The GROUP does NOT want to play anything other than the game I started for them! The one they signed on for. They do not want to play any other game, period.

To the point where this GM has lost them, they will now wait until I can resume GMing it again. So I definitely understood my group, even though apparently a number of people on this board don't.

Anyways, situation is resolved, game is dissolved until I restart it when I am able to run it myself. Because I take the time to know and understand why my players are playing.

Like I said on Dragonsfoot Tree, maybe you and the 'new' GM should chat about this privately. For what its worth to everyone on this site, as Tree has broadcasting this on multiple sites, I was an original member of the game and stepped aside due to work commitments. 4 of the original players including the 'new' GM having been gaming on Monday's for years, playing many different systems, taking turns running them. We all played Dark Heresy last night with the 'new' GM running. The 4 of us that originally started HMB. If the new guys and us 4 wanna go back to Hack when you are able to run again, I don't see the problem with that. If the 2-3 new people you or someone else recruited to play HMB wanna play DH, I am sure the 'new' GM would allow it. He added them to the chat last night to invite them. Not gaming at all is their choice, or they could try it they want. Or those couple of guys can wait til you or someone else runs Hack again. Again, their choice. Seriously man, we have been gaming for years now and we have played MANY games together online we you running, me running, and others as well. You are upset and the 'new' GM us upset. I think to save friendships, and I am sadly thinking it may be severed, it may be a good idea for you and him to talk about it like 2 men, or as someone at DF suggested, throw you both in a pit, winner gets to run whatever :) L.S.

As I suspected, and the broadcasting about it at multiple sites for validation from strangers confirms it. The "bad form" here is all you, Treebore.

Suck it up and apologize for going off the deep end, and quit resenting your group for managing to have fun without you and your precious campaign.

Dang gotta spread some XP around - anyone cover me?

Obviously I agree 100%, Hobo. It really irks me I spent anytime giving this issue serious consideration when all the OP wanted was a place to trumpet his superiority. Feh.
