I won't be switching to D&D 3.5e

Actually, the more I see the more I'm impressed. Some of the spell changes will alter the way my game runs, but I think it will result in a better game overall. I'm seeing lots of small things improved, and they will add up to substantial improvement in how my game runs.

So far, this has been my impression, as well. 3.5 seems to be designed to address many of the minor issues I have with the system, and to provide a more fun experience. Things like slowing down combat, streamlining high-level play, and putting in many simple (and to me, elegant) fixes to the system. It will be a group decision with my players, but I sincerely doubt there will be any real resistance to it. The cost issue really isn't a big deal, to us.

Yes, I'm upgrading. I'll encourage people to grab the updated SRD as soon as said document becomes available until such time as their books require replacing.

You'll either be reassured or appalled then that my next game for our group is most likely going to be Hero System 5th Ed. Not really because of 3.5, which actually seems to largely fix my problems with 3.0 and actually makes it more likely my next Rokugan game would use d20. But my other campaign ideas are not fantasy and Hero system would work better for them.

My game will be over before 3.5 comes out, and I'm planning on switching to d20 Modern for awhile. I think that when the group is ready to go back to D&D, they'll be up for 3.5 -- some of the changes that've been made sound like changes that have already happened in d20 Modern.

As you know I disagree with you on 3.5 but I figured you might run Hero System anyways next thus feeling confident in listing it as an option.

Total D&D fanboy here... Have been upgrading with D&D since the early 80s from 1e to 2e & now 3e. Been enjoying it more and more each and every year so there's no reason to put the brakes on now. A new and improved version just means that the good journey continues and I sure as heck am going to be along for the ride.
