Hi-

Was mussing while I had some dead time at work and thought, if I was to sell all my D&D stuff, I would lose my shirt IE I would never regain what I paid in full for my D&D collection.

Heck I tried to sell my dragon mag collection and got $1.50 on eBay for close to 80 something issues from the eighties, which was the better periods in the magazines history.

So, with that said, even if you decided to get out of the D&D hobby, would you sell your D&D stuff or just put it in storage and hope in the future the creative juices or time to play returns?

That's why you can buy large (and inexpensive) storage containers at your local Home Depot/Target/Wal-Mart/Lowes!

Just put all your gaming material in the storage containers and shove them in a dark spot where you live. I use under the stairs where my wife also stores her crafting. The storage boxes come in different sizes and dimensions, so you can either have one big heavy one or several small lighter ones. I recommend ones that are close to air-tight to keep bugs out.

I kept all my D&D 1E, Marvel Super Hero, Traveller, CoC and Mechanoid Invasion materials in storage boxes since the mid-1980s and probably looked over them once every three or four years. When the gaming bug hit me again about four years ago I didn't need to go to eBay to re-purchase some of my most vital stuff. ;)

I'm to much of a packrat to ever get rid of any of my books. Murpy's Law would also mean that I needed the book just after I sold it. The fact that I would also not get much for them means that I'll be keeping all my RPG books, even if I stop playing for a while.

well my MtG: collection has its own insurance rider, as a collection worth over 1k
but the last time I did an appraisal was 5 years back.
I figure a fire is the only way I'm getting my money on that one.

I believe you've already lost your shirt. Selling your collection would help you buy back some of the buttons.

i'm just as much a collector as i am a player, so i can't really see myself just unloading it all (barring some incredibly unfortunate circumstance where i simply absolutely needed the cash.)
my mind is still reeling, however, over the concept of getting 80 issues of 'dragon' for $1.50.
(also! if you do decide to unload any more stuff, i'd be more than willing to give you a fair price for the bits i need.)

Hi-

Correction, it was a 1.30, below is a link to the auction:

No big deal, its the roll of the iron dice on eBay sometimes. But I have no further incination to get rid of my stuff, I plan on keeping it. I really enjoy the hell out of D&D and hope it never comes down to where I gotta dump my D&D collection, Like other people, I too am a pack rat.
