*The lock is pretty simple, and so Vanitri is able to open it up in a few minutes while looking around carefully to make sure he isn't spotted. He heads inside of the room. It seems to be moderately well-kept, with books and papers spread out over the table, perhaps for a late-night cramming session, and a bed with haphazardly scattered sheets.*

Vanitri will look for signs of a struggle, why the papers are scattered, tracks, and evidence of the note.

And yes, he does have a candle. And yes, he'll close the door behind him

*Vanitri does not notice any signs of a struggle. It isn't at all easy to make out tracks in the Academy interior, but he can barely make out signs of a person moving about, probably the same guy. The papers seem scattered at first, but upon careful examination, they are spaced out so that a reader can switch between reading each of them easily. As for the note, he doesn't see it here, but there is a pen and an uncapped bottle of ink.*
