Kilvo nods at Pete's words, but says nothing. He glances casually at the man in question, and at his axe, and makes sure to take a seat that keeps him in his peripheral.

Ersarkess nods
"That is fine, add some wine with that please and we'll talk business."

Pete nods, and brings over another flagon.

Sitting back, the bard looks over the boy several times before calling out just as food arrives.
"You, boy! Would you like something to eat? And no, I'm not asking for anything in return."
Tipping Pete as he sets the plates, he pushes the chair toward the boy while talking to the Innkeeper.
"I'll need a room probably, but we can talk after I eat. I'll be sure to talk to you before your evening rush starts."

The boy will take what's offered, though he seems to have some difficulty keeping his hands still.

Pete responds to the inquiry in the affirmative, he has space and bedding.

I plan on living forever. Or die trying.
Tha bard talks to the boy, trying to get some info from him. Foremost, a name and what he is doing here, but general life info, is there any orphanage here, does he know the surroundings and is he willing to serve as a guide (paid guide). He talks about himself and his early days as an orphan at times he thinks the boy needs a pause from the questions or Ersarkess thinks would put him at ease in certain parts of the questioning.

Raghnall looks around things could be more harder than he thought not speaking the language. Just another way his rival was better than he was, he managed to get by. Waiting until the innkeeper is free Raghnall speaks as clearly as he can"Do you know of anyone looking for work, I am short on coins. I can work the land, break a horse, I play music.." there is a pause and Raghnall's voice drops"I can kill a man"

OOC: Rolled Persuasion for you. Got a 12. Feel free to roll a skill check if you think it might apply any time.

[sblock=Persuasion_10]The shaky exhausted boy can slowly but surely tell you a bit. His accent seems to imply he might be from Sakarpus. "Sorweel. Sorweel is my name. I do not know of any home. My older sister and I would explore the caverns. There are many entrances hidden in the town. If we found anything good, we could eat. Two nights go there was a cave-in. The earth took her. You may not believe it, but I saw her face there in the dirt. She screamed, but had no voice. But there was another voice I could hear, a man, singing. I had to dig myself out of the caves. I just barely made it here. I don't know what to do. I need to go back for her, but I'm afraid..."[/sblock]

Pete looks you over and tries to understand. He seems to grok something at least. He gestures towards the dark skinned men gathered at a table. "Zeumi" he says. He repeats back the words for gold and killing to you. He then says something you can't quite understand.

[sblock=Kianni]"That man is rich. A prince of Zeum. Him and his men are here for something, and by the looks of them not something they'll get without shedding blood. If you wish to sell your sword, I'd try them."[/sblock]

Raghnall sighs at the thought of killing yet alone killing for money but he needed the money, food and lodgings weren't cheap let alone arms and armour.

Raghnall approaches this Zeumi character looking the man in the eye he gestures to his coin purse then his axe.

One of the extremely over-built dark skinned men laughs at you derisively. The smaller more presentable merchant raises his left hand silencing the monk.

[sblock=Scylvendi]"Greetings Scylvendi. I am Silat of the Zeum. You are a stranger in strange lands, as am I, yes?"[/sblock]

Thael entered the inn, frustrated at how the morning had unfolded. He had arrived in Ashwell at dawn, finally reaching his destination after weeks of travelling from The Great Library. He had not enjoyed the human lands at all. The humans he had interacted with seemed afraid of him, and called him "schoolman" almost like a curse. Only the elite were educated, but everything was dirty. Even "comfortable" accommodations paled to what was the minimal standards of hospitality in Elven lands.

The humans were also quite uncivilized. Not even a few hours after he disembarked from the elven ship, thugs had tried to rob him. Fortunately, he dispatched the miscreants with the help of some local guards, but decided to don armor as he traveled, which was uncomfortable but proved to be necessary on two more occasions.

He also much preferred to be on the road than in human cities, and preferred to sleep in forested areas when he could.

He had been eager to arrive in Ashwell. Some of his elven kin would even have scolded him for being impatient, a reflection of his youth - as he was only 85 years old. He had rehearsed his arrival in his mind for months, and dreamed of the possibilities. He would immediately go to the head archeologist with the introduction letter from the elder council at The Library, and would immediately immerse himself with the findings, focusing on anything remotely arcane.

Of course, the morning's events had burst his illusions and had not occurred as planned. First, the excavation efforts were completely disorganized. There was no head archeologist, and the digging was done by thugs more interested in gaining wealth than knowledge. With significant protests, he had been escorted away from the pit after the workers had complained that he was interfering with their work.

"This is not a place for you, schoolman!" The words of the guards resonated as he entered the inn. He needed some time to plan what his next move would be. He likely needed help, or perhaps allies, but he was a stranger in a strange land, and needed to think.

He walks to the human that seems to be in charge. "May I have some tea?". He then sees the books behind the counter, and nods in approval "I see you are a learned man, mind if I take a look?"

The innkeeper shrugs and grabs some hot water, offering it up. "I'm not much for drinking leaves, but the older gentleman over there seems to have some of his own. There's also a spice merchant not too far form here if that gets you where you want to go. Help yourself, stranger."

There are nine books visible, ranging from childrens stories and picture books to a dictionary of Kianni terms to cook books. They all looks poorly taken care of, but of relatively recent make. The last tome on the shelf is a bit older and appears to be out of place here. A quick glance, and you think it's written in some language you've never heard of, but it is filled with illuminations as well depicting some sort of journey into hell in various forms.
