D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

Tolan lets out a long breath and backs up to a wall, slipping down until he is sitting on the floor.

"Well, at least we have another key to try on that locked door."

Damien shook his head, clearing the little imp images flying around it after nearly getting knocked out from the Abbess' attack. Checking himself over, he seemed generally okay, but a little weak. The warlock walked over to one of the sleeping monks. "Sounds like a great idea, but not this one, he's mine." Turning his pact blade into a greataxe, he lopped off one of their heads. "Maybe that key fits the door we just tried..."

This large room contains a wooden table with four chairs, a small working desk, several macrame' wall hangings, and a single pallet on a low stone shelf set against the west wall. To the north, a barred window looks out over a walled garden.

When you go to investigate that door, it does in fact open.

A large wooden chest sits by the desk. A rather nice looking bronze key hangs from a hook on the wall.

"Man, they like keys around here, huh?" Damien said, eyeing the large chest.

It looks like a fine, sturdy, and ordinary wooden chest. The kind one might keep at the foot of one's bed to hold one's belongings. It has a nice barrel-curved top and is reinforced with leather and iron. If it is watertight, it might even float in water.

Tolan kneels down over Aridha while the others check on the key and other room, slowly pouring a healing potion into her mouth.

OOC: Have [roll0] hit points.

On further inspection, this treasure chest was clearly made from re-purposed wood from fine casks, and is marked with the seal of a noble house of Mirabar Dwarven descent. It does not appear to have much of a locking mechanism.

OOC: Leaving my place where I have this all typed up... soooo whenever someone gets brave enough to open a box...

[sblock=Treasure_Box]The chest contains 1000 sp and 90 pp as well as a suit of plate, a bag of gemstones, and a pile of paper.

Bag: A swatch of cowhide contains 12 turquoise stones worth 10 gp each and a strange swirling jasper.

[sblock=Mote_of_Elemental_earth]MOTE OF ELEMENTAL EARTH
Wondrous Item, uncommon
This enchanted jasper is native to the Elemental Plane of Earth.
While holding this gemstone, the bearer gains access to the mold earth cantrip.[/sblock]

Plate:

[sblock=Earthplate_Armor]EARTHPLATE ARMOR
Armor (plate), very rare (requires attunement)

At first glance, this suit of full plate armor looks filthy and ill kept. On closer examination, however, you can see that it is expertly crafted, and that what appears to be dirt is actually the color of the metal itself.

* While wearing this armor, you gain a +1 bonus to AC. In addition, you gain the ability to cast the stoneskin spell once as a 4th-level spell, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. As long as the stoneskin effect is active, you also benefit from tremorsense with a range of 5 ft.[/sblock]

Paper: At the top of the pile of papers is a letter to "The Prophet" detailing the death of some of the Black Earth Priests including Qarbo. The Abbess recounts that Qarbo had sent notice to the commander of the mines to send up someone called the Knight Commander. "The other Mirabarese prisoners are still working the mines, but I have recinded Qarbo's order and will send this 'Knight Commander' to you, my lord prophet. The minotaurs you sent to guard the gates should suffice as replacements for the fallen earth guards. Should I encounter this band of interlopers, I will attempt to reconcile the matter in some way agreeable. Perhaps we can convince them to annoy those pesky flame keepers." The rest of the paper looks like decent manuscript paper... all blank. The letter looks freshly penned.[/sblock]
