D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

Aridha glances at the door, then takes a position next to it to make sure no one comes and takes them by surprise.

"We may want to wait on catching up until we've made it out. We've fooled them this far, but we'll likely arouse suspicion as we leave."

Dent had the Knight Captain by the arm and was leading him up the stairs, out of the lower level. When the light began to change, going from pitch black to merely dim, both Dent and Highgain fell into silence. Long years of training and fighting kicked in; it wouldn't do to make noise when shifting environs.

Dent passed Romon his waterskin once the pair gained the upper level.

Dent helped Romon to another sip of water, then turned to Carradoc. "You mentioned a room you wanted to revisit?"

The Knight Captain slumped a little just then, causing Dent alarm. "Injuries, sir?" Dent's clipped tone told Romon his junior was inquiring after his battle status; could Romon wield a blade, could he walk? Dent began a cursory check for wounds.

OOC: The Knight-Captain is very injured (4 hit points), but does not seem to be under any other long-term complications.

"Bruldenthar... and others. Farmers. Masons. There are a number of other captives. They had pulled me aside for some reason. Something about a temple. I am fine. I could fight. No. I'd gladly fight."

OOC: Just in case everyone missed it, the KC mentioned that there was another captive on the other side of the door in the room with the orogs and the ogre.

Damien stood around, waiting for the compliments on how well he pulled off his deception. When none came, he grumbled something about not getting any respect and followed the party. "Uh, there's more captives down there..."

"Quite the disguise you have," said Dent, gesturing to Damien's mask. "You did well, getting the good Captain out and away to safety without incurring injury to any of us. The unit could use a man with your skill."

When Damien mentioned an additional captive, Dent shrugged. "I have my officer. Is the other captive of value? If not, I would away with us. To safety."

Dent frowned. He considered his Captain a moment longer. "There were heavy reinforcements in the monastery. We've dispatched them, sir, but in so doing suffered expenditure of resources and injury to our persons. As you can see, we're hale enough to press the fight. But I haven't any healing for you. Perhaps the she-elf?" Dent looked to Aridha. "No matter. If you will fight, then I shall guard you and fight at your side. You shall have my sword." Dent laid his greatsword at Romon's feet. He drew his flail, readying it.

Tolan shakes his head.

"We still have no scope of the enemy forces down there. I have no objection to returning for the rest of the captives ... and scouring this whole accursed place off the maps. However, we are not in good condition to be taking on a second force of the size we encountered on this floor."

He nods to indicate the Knight-Captain.

"You, sir, were the critical path as we had learned they intended to move you. However vile the conditions the others are trapped in, there is no particular reason to believe they would not survive another night, is there?"
