Leaving the questioning for those who seemed inclined to it, Maighan went instead to the fallen wizard and hunkered down to get a better look at him.

(Trying to determine if the 'hedgehog' bit was the result of a spell, or something else)

Dent kicked handcrossbows and swords away from the dead thugs, then made his way 'round the room, collecting the still-living thugs' weaponry. He placed the lot behind the counter, near the elven woman. When he was done, he stalked across the room to stand beside and just a hair's breadth behind Maighan. Putting on his best glower, Dent glared down at the hedge wizard. The hot thrill of fresh murder glowed brightly from Dent's visage.

"The angry ape with the crossbow, and the creepy feral over there hired us out of Womford. They had good coin and we set up an ambush. Killed a motley group on their way down the road. Took their tags. They paid us some more to come here. Scout out the town. Find information about some blokes that had wronged someone. Something about recovering some sort of gem."

When Dent is collecting the weapons he finds a small blue shark-toothed dagger in McSurly's possessions.

The hedgehog's form reverts to normal after the fight. He seems to have been a Lycanthrope.

Telepathically, Thaliss looks at the elven lady behind the counter, and all allies can "hear" the following Does this city have a lord whom can pass judgement on these low-lives, or will we need to finish what we started?

Recognizing the signs of the curse, Maighan starts to laugh. An airy, slightly musical sound that seems very much at odds with the situation as she goes through the fallen mage's pockets and pouches before standing up.

She then looks the others over and says, "Well, I had thought to ask if you were the ones I was seeking...but it seems circumstances have seen fit to answer my question as soon as asked. I am Maighan, and you all and I share a common purpose. I would travel with you, if you will allow it."

OOC: Uh, I can't remember. Do we know that Tolan and Aridha left?

Damien raised an eyebrow in response to Maighan's offer. "Oh really? What purpose might that be?" the man asked. "You'll have to forgive the suspicion. After all, we were just attacked, although we appreciate the aid. Without your help, I think the situation would have been unbearable."

Damien froze his face in an expression of pleased surprise, waiting to see if anyone would respond to the pun, aside from Archandros, of course.

NO PUNS!!! I will eat your soul twice when you finally die!

Telepathically for all to hear except the thugs and the elf lady, Thaliss asks Maighan I am not one to reject the offers of a beautiful lady, but it seems many people are looking for us these days. Can you tell us why you were searching for us, before we give you an answer?

(OOC - I don't think so, at least not Aridha, though Maighan did ask if you guys knew Aridha just before things exploded)

"Hm yes," Maighan muses. She goes to a nearby bear and speaks to it in Sylvan, thanking it and its brothers for their aid. The bears rear up on their hind legs, and the silver mist rises again around them...when it fades, so have they.

"I expect this was a pawful surprise. My purpose is to investigate the appearance of a sect of druids in the area calling themselves the Scarlet Moon. I'm also familiar however with your investigation into elemental cults, and I believe they are likely connected. I've made contact with Aridha, whom I believe you have worked with, and as she has had to move on..."

Her eyes fall momentarily on the dead mage, and she smirks a little.

"...I am offering my services in her stead."
