D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

Damien slowly rose to his feet. Mercifully, Archandros seemed busy somewhere else as he wasn't booming insults in his head. Nodding a curt thanks to Aridha, the warlock listened to the rest of the party discuss their possibilities. Given the utter shellacking the party had taken against just four of the defenders of this monastery, he chimed in, "I've got an idea. Why don't we do that..." Damien pointed at Carrodoc, and then pointed his palm downward and pantomimed walking with his index and middle fingers, "...somewhere else?"

"I am confident they would not," says Carradoc. "But I understand Damien's caution as well. I would have very limited spell casting at that point," he admits.

"Let's go. We're all without significant resource. A place to rest well and truly away from this hellhole seems in order." Dent crossed the altar room and exited out the door to the courtyard with the gargoyles. He cast a wary look around before entering the courtyard, however, uncertain whether any statues or men at arms lay in wait.

OOC: Disengage action.

Is there a way to cross the courtyard so that we keep space between ourselves and any remaining gargoyles? If so, that's what Dent does. The hope is that we won't trigger an attack.

Tolan will nod his head wearily.

"I am afraid I must concur. I am not certain an hour would be sufficient."

He nonetheless waits for the others to make it to the door and statuary garden, keeping up a rear guard against any potential pursuit.

Once the group was outside the monastery grounds, Dent stopped. He looked around at Tolan, Thaliss, Damien, and Aridha. "Don't suppose you recall seeing a cave or a grove your last trek through? I can walk a bit to get somewhere more protected, but the closer the better."

Once free of the gates, Tolan glances around at the surroundings, particularly north into the hills.

"We need somewhere relatively secure and out of the way, away from our recent path. Someplace low, so that pursuers are outlined against the sky as they approach, and perhaps to provide a little shelter against anybody from the spire."

He sets out for the nearest high point, hoping to use it to get a better view of the surroundings and to locate any sort of gully, ravine or shelter among the rocky hills.

OOC: survival - [roll0]
perception - [roll1]

"Let the druid pick where we rest," says Carradoc. He thinks this is obvious, but he wants to sound neutral and open to other ideas. "Once there, I can take the first watch."

OOC: edit: sorry hafrogman; we cross-posted. Carradoc picked the outsider, not the hermit; no offence intended!

How about right here Thaliss telepathically replies, as he starts gesturing, his eyes glow with power, and the ground everywhere aroundstarts to move.

OOC: Unless one of his companions says something, He will continuously cast move earth until there is a 30ft by 30 ft moat, protecting a 5ft deep recessed area area in the middle with a 5ft wall. 2 openings to the walls (north ans south), and 2 shallow sloped passages (2 times 5ftsquares) out of the moat (east and west) The goal here is to be below ground so we are not too obvious from far away. Total casting time is 38 rounds (6x6+2 five feet squares)
