D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

Tolan keeps his head down and turns to "Cap'n Shoalar", trying to keep his face in darkness and focusing attention on the magically disguised.

OOC: The plan was to take the two rowboats. We were also going to bring Tom and put a knife to his back in case there was some kind of sign-countersign thing to get back into the Keep.

You are Shoalar... You are Shoalar... I am Shoalar

Shoalar nudged Tom and grumbled, "Light a torch."

As the flame poorly illuminated the boat, Shoalar looked in the general direction of the wall and yelled back, "I ain't got time for this Reash and my temper be just as long. Get rid uh the damn chain and let me in."

Tom makes a strange hand gesture towards the arrow slit. He crosses his forefingers and overlaps his thumbs to create an x-shape linked by a line across the bottom.

Reach has a great belly-ful laugh. "Shoalar, I heard you were finally swept under. Must have been something Drosnin messed up in the prophets message. Wishful thinking on his part? Where's the Rivermaid? Don't tell me you lost the boat! HA HA HA!"

Dent did what he did best, remain silent. He sat, folded uncomfortably in his armor, in the middle of his rowboat, and said nothing. He looked up and narrowed his eyes at the arrow slit, trying to assess the keep's weaknesses. Dent looked for rounded corners--those were stronger than angled corners on foundational walls--the number of arrow slits, whether any were lit from within by torch or lantern, and whether the keep appeared to have either turrets or a catwalk where men might lie in wait.

OOC: Does Tom's gesture look like any symbol we've seen before? It sounds familiar.

Shoalar pantomimed Tom's gesture. Assuming a dark look, the genasi replied, "She's not river-worthy at the moment, like you're going to be if you don't let us in. I need to talk to Jolly. Brought back a captive. Thaliss, if you remember him, he's got a story to tell and the boss needs to hear it."

OOC: I am not certain if you have seen that particular symbol yet. At this time I don't believe you have.

The rotund face from the arrow slit is still laughing. "HA HA HA. Very well. So you caught yourself some baitfish."

It takes the rotund man three rounds to get the chain lowered so your boats can pass.

The keep's eastern wall juts out into the river, forming a good-sized basin in which a single rowboat currently floats. A twenty-foot tall bluff of rock and earth separates the landing and a nearby tower from the rest of the castle grounds. To the north, a wide stream flows out of a cave mouth into the boat basin. An iron grate blocks access to the stream.

Three Reavers come down to the dock to see you land. "Reash says we're to escort you to Grimmjaw. Which one's the prisoner?"

"That one," says Carradoc, breaking his silence and tilting his head towards Thaliss. He makes a point of disembarking from the small boat first, finding his legs on the wharf.

Thaliss does his best to look bleak and morally beaten down, and concentrates on the illusion that shows that his hands are bound and hides his wand that he is holding.

Tolan clambers out of his boat, adjusting his posture to try and more closely mimic the three new reavers. He tries to hang back and in the darkness.
