D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Princes of Elemental Evil

The three reavers lead you up the stairs and around the path to the north-west building of the keep. At the double doors, they open them and step in. You see two more reavers waiting. "Shoalar?" says the female reaver. "You're supposed to be dead. And who are these people?" She signals to the other Reaver in the room to be ready.

OOC: Positions in case you want to act in a surprise round. Not necessarily saying combat will break out, but it's possible. I'll at a minimum require a deception roll from "Shoalar".

Frowning, Shoalar replied, "You should know by now that I'm hard to kill. I had a rough time with the damn tags. They killed Pike and the rest of my crew when we tried to collect on the bounty. I managed to jump overboard and followed them. Hooked up with a pair of mercenaries and offered to cut them in on the bounty. By the time we caught up to them, they had already engaged the rescue party and killed most of them. Damn tough tags!"

"As for who's who... there's the remnant of the rescue party that was sent out," the genasi pointed to Tom and Tolan. "Thaliss, who you may know, our sole survivng prisoner." Pointing to Dent and Carradoc, "These last two helped me get my revenge on those damn tags and they're here to claim their share of the bounty... may even convert."

Did I mention the fact that I love the Actor feat?

OOC: The double max rolls.

The reaver seems to take your words as truth and proceeds to tell her compatriot to wake the boss.

A few moments later a fat piggish bald man appears at the balcony above the room. "Shoalar..." Right behind him is a bluish woman, a bit portly herself. They both smell like a pigsty and the man is covered in sweat wearing not much more than a robe, barely cinched around his waist.

"Make this worth my time."

Pointing to Dent and Carradoc, "These last two helped me get my revenge on those damn tags and they're here to claim their share of the bounty... may even convert."

"You keep saying that, but you won't talk cash. How much is this gig actually worth?" asks Carradoc, pushing his way past the crowd, and leaning up agains the central table (i.e. to P9 or 10)

The fat man yells at Carradoc's sudden banter, "SHUT YOUR HOLE!"The man's gut hangs over the railing above. "Urshnora, you can deal with this incompetence."

The blue skinned woman stands over the railing. "Yes, the bounty was in gold pieces. I trust you have their sigils and their heads? And as for conversion, those who revere Olhydra are welcome here."

This room is the great hall of the keep. It is two stories high, with stone stairs on both sides of the room leading up to a stone balcony at the west end of the chamber. Heavy double doors lead east to the castle yard, while two interior doors open to the west. Arrow slits look out to the north and the south.

At the west end ofthe room, below the balcony, a large wooden chair sits behind a wide table littered with papers and discarded plates. A second table, this one long and furnished with benches, runs down the middle of the hall. The walls are painted in green and blue, decorated with tattered banners showing nautical designs.

Nodding, Shoalar pointed at an illusory pouch and said, "I've got the tags right here. As for the heads, one's still attached next to me and the other three are in the rowboat. Figured you wouldn't like the mess."

Pointing at Thaliss, he continued, "But 'afore we take this one's head, you might want to hear what's inside it." Looking around the room, he pointedly looked at the Reavers, "But it involves Adventuerer's Guild secrets you might not want gettin' whispered around the Keep, if you catch me drift."

OOC:
Persuasion? [roll0]

Urshnora squints at the doorway and then whispers something to Grimmjaw. Grimmjaw look perplexed by Shoalar's statement. "Well we should only keep company with those we can trust." The fat man starts walking to come downstairs, Urshnora down the other side. As he descends his body changes, taking on hair and tusks. He looks decidedly like some kind of half-man half boar. Upon getting to the ground level he takes one look at Tolan and squeels. He draws a maul out of who-knows where in his robe and yells. "Imposters, the lot of you." Tom screams out, "I'm sorry Jolly! They had me at knife-point the whole time!"

OOC: Treating Tom as a non-combatant here.

Initiatives:
Party 25
Cult of the Crashing Wave 8

OOC: The Reaver's are surprised on this first round. Grimmjaw and Urshnora are not. The party is not.

Tolan lets out a breath he had been holding as Grimmjaw pegs him immediately as an imposter. Still, the plan worked well enough to this point. Best to cut the head of the snake first. And this version of the plan left him armed. He draws his blade and immediately feels the world drifting away as he falls back into his element, deeper and deeper. Without warning he strikes at his escort.
