D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Storm King's Thunder: Waterdeep

Whistler drops the weapons on a nearby tomb, a granite slab wishing a comforting embrace to the departed infant twins encased within, and walks into the night towards the open sepulchre.

Bellalalalalinda gives him an encouraging nod, and the gorilla walks in. Is it empty? Is there a box? Can he carry it by himself? If so he picks it up, and appears.

OOC: Your assessment is correct. The Kraken Society paid good gold to... someone other than the woman that they shot down. Then they got here first.

The box is large and unwieldy, though I presume the ape can manage somehow. It sloshes about a bit.

Something is inside. That thing is encased in water and runes of elemental water.

[sblock=Arcana_20_or_identify]The box keeps the orb from detonating. If the box was removed, the orb would detonate in a nice fiery explosion in [roll0] rounds.[/sblock]

"Ah, thank you Whistler," Gul looked a little nervous as the gorilla just about managed to handle the box. He moved over and started studying the box intently..but could not make head or tail of the eldritch Weave.

"Uh, I'm still a little tired from falling out of that window, would anyone else care to take a look, or shall we get some rest and take a proper look in the morning?"

@Creamsteak any response from Ghald on who the priest was reporting to?

"Ghald was the fish faced guy. We took orders from the priest, who took orders from him. I don't know who was higher up than that. If the rumors are true, you'd have to talk to pirates along the Sword Coast and find some sunken city where a Kraken runs things. Believable if you ask me."

As Whistler struggles with the box, Bellalalalinda relaxes her defense and goes to scratch him behind the ear, in a simple gesture of thanks. "Good going, buddy," she says quietly.

"Thank you for being direct," she announces aloud again. "Now the question is what to do with you. If we close you in this tomb someone will be able to get you in the morning. Or we can take you with us. What do you others think?"

OOC: Arcana: [roll0].

"If you'll just let me tend to Top, we worked together long before this business. I know his wife, if you could call her that."

He seems to gesture towards the other veteran.

Bellalalalalinda remains suspicious, but she is not cruel. "Go on," she says to the prisoner, with her crossbow readied.

The man procures some horses and cart they had intended to be off with the orb with and loads his friends body onto it, intent to ride to the south and west if not stopped. He leaves behind his weapons and cares nothing for the priest or fish man. Supposing the party wants to move forward, after the Thieves guild member is recovered she can vouch for the parties action with the guild which will in turn protect them from any sort of local authorities should they wish to abscond with the orb. In recompense the party will get 1500 gp, and the thieves guild is intent on hunting down the assassin that betrayed them.

OOC: Trying to move relatively irrelevant plot points off to the side here if that's alright. You've now got a really big bomb in a box and 1500 gold more. Up to you to keep investigating Yartar or continue your journey.

Bellalalalinda suggests, "I think we want to find a place to put this, so that it can't be used; even just burying it somewhere, or leaving it in a tree, and then continuing; but I'm open to other suggestions."
