D&D 5E [IC] Creamsteak's Storm King's Thunder: Waterdeep

Gul breathed a sigh of relief and started wandering back to his horse. When the trolls had calmed down, he planned to use the Rod of the Vonindod to extract the rest of the adamantine.

OOC:
Well, we could try questioning one about where their base is, and how progress is going with their plans, but really, we'll want to kill it afterwards and it might be hard to stop the trolls. Probably better to keep the trolls on side and maybe get them to take us to the next group of giants?

Davaros will not stop the trolls from extracting their vengence on the giants. He keels in one knee holding his sword by hilt, pointing downwards, and thanks the gods for their help.

Hanz and Franz are able to negotiate an armistice.

"You done good little brothers. You and your talksy voodoo seem to get what you want. With the bad woman gone, we can go back to relaxing in our swamp."

"You take that sword and go though. Don't want that thing around here no more."

Excavation of the area with the rod reveals a 6 inch diameter adamantine ball bearing of some sort, so finely crafted as to be considered impossible to remake by most smiths in this time. It's probably worth quite a bit to the right buyer.

The trolls mostly want to be left alone, but they mention that there was another giant with these two at some point. He doesn't seem to be here now. If you're not trying to press gang them into something they're going to go back to their tribal ways living off the swamp.

Regarding the weapon the giantess wielded.

[sblock]Zagrevanje
Weapon (greatsword), very rare

This magic greatsword has a +1 bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls. You can use a bonus action to speak Zagrevanje's command word, causing the blade to glow red-hot. Any creature or manufactured metal object in physical contact with Zagrevanje takes 2d6 fire damage when you do so. While Zagrevanje glows, it deals an extra 2d6 fire damage to any target it hits. The heat lasts until you use a bonus action to speak the command word again or until you drop or sheathe the sword.

Protective gloves like those used for blacksmithing costing at least 25 gold pieces can prevent the first five points of fire damage you deal to yourself when you activate Zagrevanje.[/sblock]

Davaros looks at what is left of the giantess' hands to see if she was wearing any special gloves. He'll search the giants' bodies for clues.

OOC: If y'all don't mind, Davaros definitely wouldn't mind upgrading his sword ;-)

Whistler slows down when he realizes the trolls are no longer chasing him, but have turned on their captors. It is a horrendous sight, and Bellalalalalinda watches with a professional fascination.

But there's the sword in her hand, even once she dismounts, perfectly fitted for her. It's still a big sword; bigger than she's used to. She tries shaking it, and when that does nothing she shakes it again. She looks for a button that might turn it into a short sword, and she closes her eyes and wishes it were so. When nothing happens she passes it to Davaros when he asks, suggesting to him that it's broken.

Willow's first instinct is to turn away as the trolls begin tearing into their captors, but she's close enough to see how badly wounded Davaros is, so she keeps heading his way. When she reaches him, she waits for him to stand again, not wanting to interrupt a moment between him and the gods.

"Well done, Davaros. If I may..." she says, glancing at his wounds with a concerned look.

Davaros stands, and almost loses his breath as the healing energy rushes through his body. He looks at Willow in the eyes "I am in your debt my lady!" and bows thankfully.

OOC: back at full hp!

"Not at all," Willow replies with a smile. "It's the least I can do, when you put yourself at risk for the rest of us."

She thanks Hans and Franz for their help before they go, and then watches with some curiousity as Gul uses the Rod of the Vonindod. As he unearths the ball bearing, she can't help but feel how unnecessary this all was. So much cruelty and suffering and death...for that?

Trying not to dwell on the sadness of this mess, she looks around at her newfound companions. "So, what now? Do we look for this third giant, or move on?"

"Great job everyone! I'm glad that plan worked!"

Before the trolls disperse, Gul will see if any of them can offer any suggestions which way the third giant went?
