(IC) Dog Days of Doom!

Havoc gets himself partially stuck in the webs and pulls the spider from the wall and rips its head off. All is quiet. He feels a breeze and can see, up above a small hole where the spiders could leave to their hunting grounds in the fields above. Obviously, this hole and this room made for a perfect nest. There's nothing else in here.

There is a faint light from the next room to the south from the magical torches.

A statue of Pelor stands along the east wall, while a brazier stands along the west wall. A tattered banner bearing the symbol of Pelor hangs on the wall above the brazier. Four ornate stone sarcophagi stand in the corners of the room, and in an alcove near the entrance. The sarcophagus in the far corner appears to have been broken in half.

Only Caer and Deidre hear the sounds of something trying to get out.

Anson strides towards the brazier, having retrieved the firesticks from his belt.

He tries to light them immediately.

OOC: Spend a die, get'er done. Prepared to move away right away if needed/possible.
.

Caer channels the power of the Forestals to help the brazier light, then moves south to toward the sounds.

OOC:
Druidcraft to assist in lighting the brazier.
Move to the sounds; attempt to ascertain more clearly what the sounds are (active perception)
Perception: 1D20+7 = [8]+7 = 15

As Anson moves to the brazier, he takes out the sticks but before striking them, he says the prayer that the priest taught him and he feels a warm glow in his heart extends down his arms to hands and into the sticks. The runes upon the striking sticks begin to glow like embers in a fire. He strikes the sticks together and….

The coffin bursts open, pieces of shattered stone fly everywhere. A zombie bedecked in the regalia of a long dead knight moves towards the group with incredible speed. Its armour is rusted and clothes dilapidated.

Stratus, running towards the sarcophagus in hopes to contain the threat meets the undead warrior halfway. The creature brings down a rusted claymore down upon the half-cloud giant but the sword clashes against Marshall’s shield and cleaves into the stone, sending more bits flying.

…the embers burst from the runes and a single spark floats gently to the brazier.

It ignites and the brazier bursts with light, forcing everyone to shield their eyes for a moment.

I’m updating on my phone. Sorry for the crappy pic. You get the idea.

Round 1
The dice roller really seems to like you guys
Zombie warrior attack on Stratus: 1D20+6 = [8]+6 = 14

Everyone moves (as indicated on the map) but I’ll give everyone a chance to use their action instead of lighting the fire.(except Anson, who lit the fire) The zombie kind of interrupted everyone’s action mid movement.

The brazier will light at the end of this round.

Stratus was annoyed with himself for not arriving at the Sarcophagus in time, he met the Zombie defensively first, with his shield knocking its claymore into the ground, then he swung his sword as hard as he could into its shoulder. There was a strange density to the flesh, and even with the divine might of the Skyfather guiding his blow, the sword slid much less deeply into the creature's body than Stratus would have hoped.

OOC: He hit 20 AC for a terrible, terribly low damage roll with a Smite! I got 12 TOTAL on 4d8+3. Down to my last Spell Slot.

Deirdre moved up next to Stratus and lashed out with her sword, channeling the grace of Corellon to strike twice in quick succession. Like Stratus, she found the zombie's flesh to be abnormally tough, her strikes barely grazing it.

OOC: Use True Strike for first attack, War Priest for a bonus attack.
True Strike with longsword, radiant damage: 1D20+5 = [5]+5 = 10
1D8+3 = [2]+3 = 5
War Priest Bonus Attack (slashing damage): 1D20+4 = [10]+4 = 14
1D8+2 = [2]+2 = 4
Ack! Rolled two 2's for 9 total damage from both lonsgword attacks. This guy is made of stern stuff. Or rubber chickens.
