Temple Street

Stratus, with help of the others, climbs to the top of the wall, over the gate and is lowering himself down 1. as Anson sprints towards them. He easily outpaces Deidre and Benny.

The merchant hold Newt behind him so that he is shielding her from the oncoming zombies. There's a look of hope in his eyes as he sees more warriors joining them. He even shouts out a cheer as Stratus makes it to the top of wall.

The cheer is cut short as a crash of green lighting flashes across the sky and an eerie energy, similar to what was felt when the comet crashed, washes over everyone. The merchant screams in pain and collapses on the ground. 2 He writhes in pain for a second before taking his final breath.

As the Zombie-Chicken-Zombies sprint around the corner, gaining on Deidre and Benny, the chickens, riding shot-gun on them sense the fresh blood of the living and launch themselves, flying through the air, landing on Benny and Deidre and Max.

They mostly fly wide and land on the ground around the group but one gets its claws into Max and latches on, trying to suck the blood from the Sphinx. 3

Round 1
1. @FitzTheRuke make a DC 12 to climb down or take 2d6 falling damage. You will be on the other side for round two

2. Another pulse of Necrotic Energy: Everyone make a DC 12 Con save or take 5 points of necrotic damage. Max should make one too. You can use your holy symbol to tank the damage again, if you want.

- The poor merchant failed by one (i'm not sure if anyone gives bonuses to saves?). The damage was max and I rolled his HP and he only had 1. So he goes down. No death saves for NPCs but I'll give people 1 round if someone wants to save him (medicine to stabilize him or healing, obviously.)

- Newt makes her save....

3. Zombies double move, then zombie chickens launch themselves off the zombies towards the PCs
One attack on each Deidre, Benny and Max
Deidre, 1D20+5 = [12]+5 = 17 (miss)
Benny, 1D20+5 = [6]+5 = 11 (miss)
then Max:
1D20+5 = [19]+5 = 24 (Hit)
1D6+3 = [4]+3 = 7
Then Deidre again
Deidre: 1D20+5 = [6]+5 = 11 (miss)

Max has one attached to him. He needs to spend an action removing it, or he can attack it. I'm going to say that it makes it hard for him to fly too since they're about the same size.

Anson Willoughby
AC 15
HP: 12-5= 7/15
Passive Perception: 12
HD: 2/2
Heroic Insp: 1/1
Anson had not meant to outpace Dierdre and Benny -- to an outsider, it might appear he was fleeing in panic, he realized. And yet he kept running, his yellow cloak billowing behind him.

"I'm sorr--" he began, before his knees buckled, seconds before the light changed and the next pulse happened. The metallic taste in his mouth was unexpected, before he realized it was blood.

In a steadied movement he attempted instantly to jimmy the lock, but in his rush he was not successful. He was letting everyone down.

OOC: Con save vs DC 12 1d20+1=9. FAIL.
Move and Bonus to reach the gate. Action: lockpick, with advantage 1d20+5=9. FAIL.

Stratus' reach was an astonishing eleven feet, and he found a spot where he could get a grip on the edge to dangle himself down before dropping the remaining nine feet. He landed on his feet and went to find a way to open the gate, wondering if it was winch-operated or a simple lift-bar. (Or if anyone was there who would try to stop him? He had a quick look around).

OOC: Made a 14 Athletics and a 16 Perception.

With the crack of lightning, once again she felt Corellon's presence in her holy symbol - a reassuring warmth indicating he was there again to shield her from the necrotic energies. However, even though she was bleeding from her previous injuries, she once again refused that protection, stealing herself to resist the unholy power. With a gasp the wave of energy passed through her, leaving her unscathed this time.

With a grimace she turned just in time to see the blood-sucking chickens descend on Benny, Max, and her. Renewed with divine fury, Deirdre raised her longsword on high and called upon Corellon's holy radiance with a shout before continuing her sprint towards the gate.

::Ancalima!::

OOC: I know the other group found another holy symbol of Correllon, but Deirdre doesn't know that, and I can't see her sacrificing her holy symbol unless it was her last resort. She just barely made the save. She then casts Word of Radiance to try to disperse the chickens, before continuing her movement to the gate.

Con Save (DC 12): 1D20+2 = [10]+2 = 12

Word of Radiance (DC 13 Con save): 1D6 = [2] = 2
Not great, but worth a shot. Range is all chickens within 5 feet of her.
Side note - Coyote Code is really slow today, and crashed once...:(

Benny
AC 14 (19 with shield spell used as a reaction)
Spell Save DC 13
HP/HP 14/17 (4+7 from healing potion-5 necrotic+8 healing potion)
Passive Perception (PP): 13
HD/HD; 2/2

Benny has 1 vial of holy water (each vial has 3 castings of protection from evil)

Maximilian
AC 13
Magic Resistance. The sphinx has Advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Resistances: Necrotic, Psychic, Radiant
HP/HP 13/24
Senses Darkvision 60 ft., Passive Perception 11
HD/HD; 1/7

OOC: Benny con save: 10 Fail! Benny takes 5 necrotic damage
Max con save: 7 fail! Max takes 2 necrotic damage (he is resistant to necrotic). Plus 7 from the chicken zombie chicken (or is it zombie chicken zombie) so 9 damage total.
Healing potion for Benny : 8 (see below)
Above minisheet reflects this.

As Benny desperately tries to avoid the strange undead chicken, he gulps down the last healing potion he took and chants arcane words to attempt slowing down the pursuing zombies.

A wall appears between the fleeing group and the humanoid zombies, Benny's companions cannot see them anymore and hopefully the same is true for those zombies behind the wall. Now the avian zombies, those were still a problem, but Benny knew he needed to keep heading towards the gates, so he did.

Poor Max was grounded, a sorry sight with a chicken zombie latched onto him. He decided to hold his ground, feigning being incapacitated, hoping to attract all the avian zombies' attention, sacrificing himself.

OOC: Benny:
Bonus action: drink healing potion
action cast: silent image. 15ft cube of stone walls. between the pursuing humanoid zombies and the group. 15 ft should do a good job to cover the alley from the house to the stalls.
move: 30ft towards the gate

Max:
Move: none. Noble animal!
action: dodge
Deception check: 18 (woot woot) @TaranTheWanderer if you feel feigning is an action, Max won't dodge and will feign.

Temple Street (end of Round 2)
  • Anson fails to unlock the bar on the door
  • Therefore, Stratus moves and has to unbar it himself - no check because he has access to the mechanism and then uses the rest of his turn to open the door. That's all you can do
  • Deidre kills 4 of the 5 chickens
  • Benny realizes that the chickens are attracted to life force and don't fall for the disguise. Therefore, Max's feint doesn't work. Which is fine, because his chicken is dead. Max can choose to move instead of feint or do something else.
(one chicken left on Deidre)
- The Wall goes up. The zombies are fooled for this round - I will roll to see if they are fooled next round.

Anson is unable to open the lock. Fortunately Stratus jumps down but is forced to unlock door and open the mechanism himself. It takes the time to slowly pull the gate open. It's 12 feet tall and not easy to move.

Newt immediately runs through the gates and hides behind Stratus.

The Merchant looks bad, lying on the ground. If he isn't stabilized immediately (this round), he will die and become a zombie.

Deidre calls on her god and 4 chickens become Corellon Fried Chickens and fall to the ground. There is one chicken left on the ground, furthest away from the group. It doesn't look nearly as fast running as it did when it launched itself into the air on its chicken wings.

Benny calls up a wall. Nobody can see what the zombies are doing but, judging by the fact that they didn't just run through the wall bodes well.

The final chicken tries to latch onto Deidre but it pecks uselessly at her steel-toed boots.

Zombies pause for a round trying to figure a way around the wall

Last zombie chicken attacks Deidre and misses, hitting AC 14
