D&D 5E [IC] Escape from Castle Illvithar

The massive door has to be lifted up to open, but with sufficient strength it's possible. A large hallway is on the other side with stairs descending towards some branching paths. A series of portraits of various men and women flank the passage. They all look... noble-born, arrogant, and human. Four women and four men in total, all bearing a certain similarity.

Whisper quietly padded behind Koregar, sweeping her lights across the portraits to get a better view of them before sending them to the end of the corridor.

None of them seem awfully familiar to either of you. One thing that does stick out, each has a red gemstone on their person. Some have it on a ring, others have it on a necklace, one woman has it in a pin in her hair. The gemstone looks very similar to one you may have noticed on a particular door you passed a while back.

OOC: I guess we should try and engage with some of these puzzles...

"Odd," Whisper rasped, "those gemstones look like the one on the door of the room across from our cell. Maybe it identifies the owner as a member of the family that ruled this place? We could try to pry it out."

While hopeful, she thought to herself Then again, they'd have to be an idiot to mistake either her or the dwarf for a human.

"We could at that," Koregar said, "Let's go back and check that door. Maybe we could check on old ugly face's room first. Where we woke up. Maybe there's somethin' in his coffin."

That's where Koregar heads.

The door with the gem is how you last saw it.

The other door looks like it was broken through, the coffin as well, and you don't see anything of value there.

Whisper ignored the cell they were in and focused on the door with the gemstone in it. Shining her lights around the gemstone, she examined it closely and rasped, "I doubt anyone would leave a gem like this around without some kind of protection."
OOC: Perception Check on the gemstone and door - [roll0]

The gemstone looks like it's well mounted. It could be removed, but one would need to work at it a slight bit. You don't see any obvious traps.

OOC: Not going to meta it, so away we go...

"Can I get a boost?" Whisper rasped, hoping Koregor would provide her with a foothold. Taking one of her daggers out, she pried at the red gemstone, hoping to extract it.
