The sling stone bounces off the creature. It retreats further back and disappears behind some more rocks. Neither of you can see it.

Surana looks after the creature longingly, thinking about how close they were to a meal of real food. Her thoughts turn briefly to the sounds and smells of fresh meat over cookfires, but change abruptly as she gets a better look at the battered dark elf.

"We got what we came for. Let's go."

She follows Sarith to the rope, climbing up after him.

OOC: PbP + theatre of the mind sometimes makes me think we're all playing a different game.

Ok...how many feet is it from the rope (i.e., if we do leave/dash, could it reach us + hit before we reach the top?)

And how far is it from me? I was thinking it was now some 20' away, and maybe 15' off the ground.

If it's far enough that we can safely get up the rope, I still might prefer that. With 1 hit it could KO me or insta-kill Sarith. If it's content to flee, I'm content to let it.

Nodding to Surana and Sarith, Ezraen draws his rapier, covering their escape as they climb up the rope. As they disappear up through the hole, the half-drow sheathes the rapier and quickly ascends the rope.

Upon reaching the top, he reiterates, "I really hate this place. Let's go."

OOC: I do not believe that I used my Lay on Hands yet, so I will give 5 hp to Surana and Sarith.

Yeah...even at the table that is one of the risks of TotM. I'm a very visual person...but also a very lazy person...

You are on the ground, a good 15' below it and Ez. It backed away from you so it is about 15' further back in the fissure than you are. I think your reasoning is sound. You are at the bottom of a very deep hole, just got slammed by a very big tentacle beast that seems content to leave you alone. You definitely got the better of it, but on the side of a sheer surface, it has a substantial advantage. Just good thing the hole wasn't too deep!

So are we all agreed you're going to move on and lick your wounds?
