Surana kicks the remnants of the barrel in frustration.
"I don't know, priest, but I hope you're starting to understand life outside city walls. Anything roaming alone, in dangerous lands, unafraid of a group this big? It's either long dead and rotting, or very dangerous.
We should have struck first. Next time, I will."
When her anger subsides, she takes a closer look at the plate from the barrel.
"Lot no. 237," she reads aloud, handing the plate to Sarith. "Your missing patrol?"
Since Sarith hasn't answered yet about the cask, I'd like to add one more question for all the Underdark dwellers and Bert: Do they know of any creatures down here with the power to teleport like that?
Eldeth: "That's part of a brewer's mark. They keep records of which batch was made when and with what ingredients."
Sarith laughs bitterly "No. I don't think that whatever that was it was part of the underdark. Things here are stealthy. That was from somewhere else."
Ezraen nods, "Sound logic, but it seemed that guy knew us, and you sure seemed to recognize him. You think he was following us?"
The half-drow eats as much of his fish that he can, sure that he will have a stomach ache for sure, but doesn't care. "Let us move a few hours ahead, then take a proper rest."
OOC:
Assuming this happened before we took our long rest.
Surana didn't recognize him so much as he felt familiar. Difficult to explain but let me try this way. After I got home from Iraq my family and I went to Disney. For some reason when I looked at people, complete strangers I never met, I felt like they reminded mebof someone but I just couldn't put my finger on who or why I felt that way. It happened over and over and continued for a few weeks then it slowly went away. I have no idea what caused it. Surana felt like that. She never met a deep gnome before so there is no way shr could have known him but she felt like he reminded her of something from her past.
