D&D 5E (IC) Vault of the Dracolich (Infiltrators)

*cough* *cough*

His clothes still smoldering the warrior rushes through the smoke and smell of brimstone straight towards Josana. His sword flies from its' scabbard as he moves, coming out in an arc as he draws it to slice at the wizardress.

"I'm sorry but you and your allies have to be stopped," Zander says as he brings the sword around once more. Then resolve shows on his face as he decides to try and finish this fight even before it has started.

"I won't," his blade strikes out a third time. "let you," a fourth time.

"Hurt any of my friends." he says his blade a bloody mess his shoulders heaving as he pants to catch his breath.

Zander

Josana holds up her little crystal ball and is surrounded in an energy field. As Zander slashes away at her, the energy flashes, making crackling sounds, but holding as if he is hacking away at a stone wall.

While her shield is up, she steps around Zander and then waves her little ball around and a loud boom echoes through the hall. Zander is thrown back...

GM: Thunderwave. dc13 Con save for half damage. If Zander fails, he's thrown into Mord's darkness!
Gone: (PCs) Zander; (BGs) Josana
Damage Taken: (PCs) Zander 9(4?); (BGs) None

OOC: okay that save is a little better than a DEX one, lol
[roll0]
oh for the love of... darn spell casters.

Tired from the over exertion as he wailed away at the magical force shield, Zander is unprepared for the thunderous blast that blows him off his feet.

To everyone else it looks as if he was sucked into the darkness, like a piece of meat slurpped up into a giant's gaping maw.

OOC: HP:18/54

SnorLoska could see the mage coming out of the darkness and waving an orb around and could therefore avoid some of the fiery explosion. Next, another cultist was rushing towards SnorLoska but he ignored the oncoming man, side stepped past him and focused his attack on the fireball throwing mage instead. He raised his sword and swung down hard!

Seeing the ball of fire pass him in slow motion, Lorenn tried to warn his friends but, it was too late. He took the blast and had just the time to raise his shield to absorb most of the fire energy.

Reaction: Absorb Element (half damage)

"Fool! Who do you think you are dealing with?" The image of Zalena shattered, leaving in it's place, Mord's true face. But twisted with malign energies. From his back sprouted a pair of ghostly skeletal wings, flightless but horrifying to behold from up close.

Knowing the effect his alteration would have on the man, Mord stepped to the side to block any attempt at actual escape.

Hearing another spellcast, Mord flicked his wand and killed the thunderous cacophony before it could take effect. Leaving Zanders nightmare as nothing more than a figment of his imagination.

[Sblock]Racial ability: Necrotic Shroud
1min duration on transformation. Deal extra Necrotic damage equal to level to 1 target each time I attack or cast a damaging spell. All withing 10 ft. Are frightened until end of my next turn (Cha save DC 14).

Using my counterspell to stop that thunderwave btw. I'm calling shenanigans![/sblock]

OOC: Also, the cultist in X17 had activated but stayed in the darkness, right? That should be another 12 acid damage from ending their turn in the zone. If they're still in, now it is [roll0]Cold+5Necrotic to start and [roll]2d6]acid to end.

OOC: Counterspelling the Thunderwave might, in the long run, save you all from more damage than counterspelling the Fireball. Why? Because Thunderwave "can be heard from up to 300 feet away". That's still quite a few cultists.
