Ranver puts a hand on her back and pets her hair. He looks down at her sadly and over at the stairs where his companions ready themselves for the emergeance of their quarry. This is new for me, too.
"I'm sorry you had to see that."
He lets her sob a bit more. He murmurs, "I've got to go back now. Stay hidden. Watch the alleyway here, in case any others arrive. Call out if you see anything."
Maybe that way she won't see anything else terrible.
He extracts himself from her clinging grasp and gently tilts her chin up at him and smiles down at her, brushing a lock of hair from her brow, "I know you'll be brave, Candlekeep."
He hurries back to the others.
"I'm sorry you had to see that."
He lets her sob a bit more. He murmurs, "I've got to go back now. Stay hidden. Watch the alleyway here, in case any others arrive. Call out if you see anything."
