Silhouette covers her mouth to give some minimal courtesy to her giggles.

"Is this how the business of skulking in dungeons is done? I feel as if I haven't missed much."

Armides Diat, Inquisitor of Asmodeus

[section]
Armides watches as Nelleon and Niles toss furniture around. One brow raises in an expression of skeptical disbelief. He smirks at Silhouette's comment.

"Yes. Well..." He deigns to comment further until he's witnessed the success of the endeavor.

[section]Cass moves out of Niles' and Nelleon's way as the pair maneuvers the wooden chair down the stairs. Half hoping he's right and the chair triggers some reaction from what he suspects is a trapped section of flooring, and half dreading the impending crash of furniture against stone masonry, Cass presses his back to the wall of the stairway and waits, resisting the urge to frown at Silhouette and Armides.[/section]

"What better way is there? Would you rather take that chance of a 20 ton stone falling on you when you open the door?" He shudders at the personal enisionment of what someone would look like if a 20 ton stone were to fall on a person.

Hefting the chair onto the floor where Cass believes something is amiss at first yield nothing more then a broken chair. But after a few more seconds the floor opens up and what is left of the chair falls to the spikes below. Had anyone been examining the door they would have surely met a fate of spikes.

Armides Diat, Inquisitor of Asmodeus

[section]
Armides frowns; he doesn't like admitting that he failed at something. But he's going to have to work with these people in order to survive apparently. He turns to Cass.

"You saw better with one eye than I did with two. I'll trust your vision from here on. Good work."

Armides turns back to the door wondering if the floor will reset or if they will have to make their way around the trap somehow. And if Cass's vision of the floor was correct, then might there not be something amiss with the door itself? He scowls as he contemplates the door.

Lord Nelleon frowns and considers the door and the floor in front of it, "Do we have a strong table? Maybe we can let it get wedged into the spikes and then cross over it. I doubt further 'tests' will be this easily passed, however."

[section]The urge to preen at Armides's praise is strong but it leaves Cass troubled. "I -- . I'm -- . My sight isn't always reliable." Cass's emphasis on the word 'sight' leaves no doubt what he means. Cass inclines his head in thanks in a poor imitation of the head nod he's seen Nelleon do. And then bitter bile rises in his throat as he realizes he's accepted being treated by Armides as a retainer. Confusion and unhappiness etch themselves on Cass's brow. Deflecting his tension, Cass says, "Why don't we use the second chair and toss it at the door?"[/section]

Once again, Silhouette interrupts with a mild, "A moment."

She casts a spell and gestures at the door. The handle and latch jiggle for a moment, as if an unseen hand were trying to open it...which was of course exactly what was happening.

(OOC - mage hand to see if the door is even locked)
