For me I'd have to say Abner, Blastum and the rest of the A-team and B-team. We had a name, class, level and I think strength for good ole' Gutboy.

Seconded!

My alternate choice would be as follows:
Hank the Ranger
Eric the Cavalier
Sheila the Thief
Presto the Magician
Diana the Acrobat
Bobby the Barbarian

There's also lots of pre-gens in the modules with memorable names: Philotomy Jurament, Gleepwurp (some sources say "Gleedwurp" IIRC) the Eyebiter, Beek Gwenders of Croodle, etc.

And I think Lord Robilar is about as iconic as it gets!

Isn't there some debate over the sex of Morgan Ironwolf? Wasn't she originally depicted as male?

No such thing. (Not even in the Rogues Gallery.)

Edit: The closest thing you'll find to "iconic" characters during that era would probably be Morgan Ironwolf, Silverleaf, Black Dougal, etc. in the Moldvay Basic Set.

Another reason 1E art is better than 3E. Seriously, nothing has harmed 3E art more IMHO than cramming those stupid iconics in everywhere and killing nay sort of creativity. Even Dungeon has their own iconics.

I'll have to double-check, but I'm pretty sure that I won one of the PC sheets Paul Stormberg was auctioning; not sure if it was from Steve Marsh or Tim Jiardini. I'll check after Heather's up for the day and post back :D

Nope, it wasn't a RG PC afterall: I got outbid on all of them. I was thinking of Mark Ratner's Ayerlach PC (a Greyhawk paladin most-known for being one of the two PCs who freed Fraz-Urb'luu from the Great Stone Face in Castle Greyhawk).

So, Erac's Cousin is in the 1E Rogues Gallery ... has Erac himself ever been detailed? I'm thinking of using him in a game.

A little info, actually, via Scott Gregg: http://doomsdaygames.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=generalgreyhawk&action=display&thread=1080316778
which, upon closer reading, appears to contradict the conventional wisdom that Fraz was imprisoned in the Great Stone Face (per EGG's description in S4 and MM2, which don't actually call out the Great Stone Face specifically, but instead mention a bas-relief or a stone prison).
