I'd be the dwarf who runs into town from time to time to scream about monsters and deamons which have invaded the local mine, and ask if there be any adventurers willing to risk their life for a reward.
But it's really just a bunch of rats and spiders and stuff down there, in the dark, and when they ask for the reward i'll say, "You got experience, don't you guys like that stuff?"
oh, and I can be found at the tavern after I send off the new recruits.

No fair, my profession requires a gender change!
I would be the old lady who brews the herbs that make poeple better, the midwife. I would grouce about how if everyone would just listen to me the village would be a better place.
