If WotC came out with an "Advanced" D&D supplement... what would you put in it?

Here I thought what you were suggesting was basically "Unearthed Arcana" for 4e. A lot of this isn't really that.
I read it more like the difference between Basic D&D and Advanced D&D (1e). Basic D&D basically had races mixed up with classes: fighters, clerics, magic-users and thieves were assumed to be human, and dwarves, elves and halflings were separate classes.

AD&D separated the concept of race from the concept of class so you could have dwarf thieves, elf magic-users and halfling fighter/thieves (in addition to dwarf fighters, elf fighter/magic-users and halfing fighters).

My proposed separation of a class's combat role, non-combat role and flavor is pretty much in the same vein.

I'm not talking builds. I am talking about a new set of animal companion mechanics to replace/revise those that were released.
Really? These seem to work pretty well, balancing having a buddy with the action economy near-perfectly. What would you want to change?

What I would like to see is a modular D&D where you tailor everything to your need. Kind of a point-based system but where you can create your own class and character. Plus I would like more depth outside combat.
