If you could Add one more race to the PHB

I say cut out half orcs and replace them with orcs. Then, I dunno. Maybe goblins, maybe kobolds, maybe changelings. Because changelings rock, and are a lot more generic than shifters or warforged.

Demiurge out.

I say go with the Star Trek option and have 12,000 different races who are only distinguishable from humans and each other due to their differently deformed foreheads.

Can I preorder that on Amazon!?!

One "Swamp Thing-meets-Chud" campaign, comin' up!

Personally, I wouldn't mind if half-elf, half-orc and gnome were all removed from the PHB core races. Human, dwarf, elf and halfling would be sufficient, IMHO.

But, if the idea was to add a race, not remove any, I've often thought there should be a half-dwarf race. As long as there is the half-elf and half-orc, why not a half-dwarf?

Half-ogres.

Ever since 1st edition I've wanted to include this as a PC race. I would make them a LA+0, medium-sized race... more human than ogre.

Half-ogres were the first race that came to mind - although planetouched aasimar/tieflings would come a close second. And for some reason, I could see warforged as a means of spicing up 4th edition.

Anything but a friggin' Warforged. Keep those damn robots out of my D&D.

Seriously, I'd like to see another race with no ability score modifications, because as-is a lot of folks infer from the PHB that all non-human races should have ability score mods, and when homebrewing a new race many DM's tend to focus on those to the exclusion of anything that might actually make the race interesting or fun to play.

The raptorians would fit the bill nicely. Among other things, they make it clear that flight is not an ability to hand out casually to low-level characters. They also demonstrate how a race can actually gain new features as the character levels, whereas all the PHB races provide everything up front.

I'm supprised there haven't been more cat people calls. (not that I need them, but the seem to be popular).

Not sure what I'd like. An L0 lizard race would be good. Or some other animal race. I like changelings, but they seem a bit more setting specific (though probably the most portable of the non-psionic eberron races). I don't see a large race getting an L0 without a labotomy, but maybe another small or even tiny race.
