if you could run or play in ANY campaign RIGHT now...

...what would it be?

One of my groups just finished a 2+ year campaign and I've pretty much gotten the green light to run something. I've been working on a homebrew (Grim Tales) but I'm concerned that it will be too similar to the Midnight campaign another guy willl be running. So...I'm curious to hear about some campaign ideas - maybe something will strike a nerve. :D

Cite the system you would use, general premise, setting, any particular house rules or things you would change, etc. (it doesn't have to necessarily be 3.x or even fantasy)

If I could run any campaign, it'd be my homebrew. Except that all the high-level work and balancing would be magically done, leaving only adventures and a bit of backstory for me to handle. (Note, this is different than using a prepared setting.)

Realistically, I'd be inclined to go for either Eberron or the new WoD. Shadowrun would rate pretty highly, too, but several of my players loathe cyberpunk.

PLAY: anything GURPS 4e, especially horror or fantasy

non-GURPS:

AFMBE
D&D3.5 WLD

RUN:

G4 homebrew fantasy (in progress)
G4 "Roma Arcana" (from GURPS Fantasy) meets "The Shield" (planned)
D&D3.5 WLD (starts next week)
playtesting several homebrew ideas with G4 (coming up)

My homebrew. I like not running the same setting as zabillions of other players.

As far as playing, first I just wish I got to play OR DM more than once every 4 to 6 weeks. My whole group is having trouble finding "play time". But in a perfect world, I'd run my homebrew and play in CoC d20, Star Wars d20, and a rip-roaring swashbuckling 3.5 Al-Qadim game.

While I'm always up for various styles, I'd probably most want to play (not DM) in an Eberron game now. I've got at least three PC ideas that would work well in the setting, and I want a chance to try them out. An intrigue-based campaign would be nice, but it's only necessary for the Sivis heir who's aiming to climb the social ladder in the house. No particular house rules or anything that I'm aiming for.

Though, while I'm not a huge fan of the setting I would also like a Forgotten Realms game so I could remake my ghostwise halfling bard, who has been my fave char to play to date. Other campaigns that would be fun? A seafaring camp would be good fun, as would a d20m Urban Arcana camp, maaaaaaybe Ghostwalk or Arcana Unearthed.

Play: in Piratecat's. :)

Run: Strangely, for the first time ever, I'm actually getting to run the campaign I really want to run. It's a low-fantasy modern campaign, my first completely homebrew effort ever, set in the contemporary UK in a fictional city which has a rather short and very strange history. We've had two sessions and I'm still in that honeymoon 'the characters are only now realising that there's something big and weird going on' period. It's great (system in use is core d20 Modern).

Pulp Action D&D...

Using Fantasy Flight Games Sorcery and Steam and modifying either Blackmoor or Erberron to be more pulp like since both of them already include some elements that I think would be good for this type of game (clockwork, flying ships, ...etc.)

D&D meets Indiana Gnome, The League of Extrordinary Gentlemen, Tarzan, Sherlock Holmes, Jack the Ripper, Flash Gordon, The Rocketeer, and any other similar influences you can think of.

Not for everyone, but definitely different than midnight or Grim Tales....

If I could play anything, I'd most want to play in a campaign very much like the one I'm currently running -- Dark•Heritage. I'm pretty sure I'll have to be content to run it though, although since Stockdale picked up Darkness & Dread during FFG's $5 sale, there's a possibility that we'll get to do something that touches on some of the same themes.

Other than that, I could play or run any type of horror game using Call of Cthulhu, d20 Modern or my personal favorite, a hybrid of the two. A d20 Delta Green campaign, or campaign that borrows liberally from that sourcebook anyway, would be tons of fun.
