Yeah, I saw this recently myself. I'm super excited about the opportunities--especially if different types of wood might provide different benefits, e.g. I imagine balsawood would not be very useful even with this technique, whereas something already super hard like hickory might be particularly strong after treatment like this. It might also be possible to improve the technique, since this is a very early effort--there could be optimizations or all sorts of other stuff.

Building with nails of wood as strong as steel? That's pretty awesome to me.
 


The article doesn't mention cost, but I've got to assume this is expensive. Still very cool.

On the other hand, druids can finally have an alternative armor not made of metal! ;)
