Ignorance on the web

The second paragraph was fairly accurate, I thought.
The players gather around a fictitious or roughly sketched map and set off on an imaginary odyssey through hazardous terrain created by the Dungeon Master. En route, they encounter obstacles, such as monsters and demons, which they thwart with violent tactics and occult spells. No one wins. The object is to survive the adventure and participate in the next game with an even more powerful character.
The bit about no moral absolutism is the opposite of the truth, however. Sadly the instructions on demon summoning and astral projection are pretty sketchy.

Damn, why can't I get my astral projection on when I play!! Much less, summoning demonic critters!! That guy must be good.

Check the Book of Vile Darkness. There are some fairly solid guidelines in there for performing sacrifices, which in turn can be used to summon demons. YMMV though. :p

That was my thought as well. They obviously never dropped in on one of the paladin threads.

The other thing of note is that they either do not understand, or choose to not make the distinction, the difference between player and player character.

Oh well, nothing much to do about it. It is mostly fear and ignorance, and usually the fear blocks any attempts to correct the ignorance.

Now, excuse me but you are distracting me from drawing my pentagram, and we all know how disasterous that can be.

I will say this. I started gaming in the mid-80's, and I still haven't been able to summon any sort of devil or demon. I'm just saying, if I had it to do over, I might've learned to play the guitar.

Certain players may become so detached from the outside world that the death of their character triggers violent rage.
Okay, that's spot on. Actually, the whole article sounds a lot like most of the games I played in my late teens. I can't help but notice one of the ads on the site says the world's ending in 2008. Looks like a good time to start looking at how to wrap up our various campaigns.

I'm still trying to gate in a bikini-clad barbarian sorceress. Can someone point me to the correct page?
You'll need the third-party Book of Erotic Fantasy for that one I'm afraid. It's well worth the extra investment though. :)

Hmmm. Well, as long as there's not an expensive material component, maybe I could make it into a wand. I bet that would kick Harry Potter's wand's ass :D

Here's an image of a rare talisman purported to have much the same effect as the wand you're contemplating constructing. It does however require the purchase of a rather pricey material component I'm afraid. :\
