I'm done with ironic threads

I'm tired of every preposterous thread getting its own satirical spinoff. It legitimizes the essential threadcrap by taking it elsewhere: in a new thread, you can say "this discussion is silly" without the immediate reply of helpful EN Worlders welcoming you not to contribute to the discussion.

Now you may say "you can't possibly call it threadcrapping if it isn't in the thread," and to that I say I will make another thread satirizing what you just said.

Hey, if you think a thread is so ridiculous, how about not dedicating more space to it? After the initial giggles and high-fives, you are going to have people responding to your rebuke of why elves can't survive or why the d20 system is too encumbered. Your dissenting opinion has only served to revitalize what is probably, by the point you're tired with it, a dying discussion.

Irony makes me so dang mad, I need more than one smiley to illustrate it.:mad::mad:

Isn't it basically a way of saying, "I want attention, and y'all are paying attention to this right now, soooo..."

Can I join in this attention-grabbing trend? Because ... I like attention too! :)

Yay me! -- N

Are you ironic... or what?

Eesh, I think the satirical spin-offs are fine, as long as they're not cluttering everything. First of all, they may reduce threadcrapping, therefore it's okayish. Second: They are another thread - you don't need to look into'em, hence to can dedicate your time to the original thread, with less sarcasm in it.

Just stay clear of threads you don't like - I know, why I don't look in every thread! ;)

Isn't it ironic? It's like rain on a rainy day, or meeting the girl of your dreams and finding out that she's five. :p

You've raised an interesting point - what's the appropriate thing to do if you object to a thread? To say so in the thread itself is threadcrapping.
