I'm looking for Opinions on the Marshal Class

You may want to check out the Commander character class as well. I believe it is in the Complete Warrior, but I cannot be sure. We have a player that started with Commander levels, looked at Marshall and decided to stick with Commander. As a Commnader he is laying down +2 bonuses to hit for everyone or allowing PCs to flank opponents while two allies simply threaten(i.e., Don't have to be on opposite sides, could be side-by-side). Been very effective.

I have been thinking of turning the Marshal class into a prestige class. It just seems kind of bland. I mean it gets less per level up than a Sorcerer does and Sorcerers are just so bland.

I'm not sure I have seen that class in CW. Could it have been from somewhere else?

Marshall 1/ Sorcerer x with the aura that gives a bonus to overcome spell resistance might be nice.

It also seems very easy to push the Diplomacy cheese:

Charisma as a key stat
Skill Focus Diplomacy as a Bonus Feat
All 3 skills that Synergise with Diplomacy on their class list

In fact you've got plenty of skill points and the right skill list to become the party spokesman anyway; whether you cheese it or not.


Their main weakness seems to be a vulnerability to Silencing effects which would pretty much shut down their main class feature; on the other hand they don't care about any anti-magic measures.

If I was playing one at higher levels I'd really want to think of a way to get round Silence - suggestions?
