Honestly, immersion is not the goal for me/us, it's a tool. We're playing a game/activity for fun/satisfaction, if whatever we're doing is fun/satisfactory, then we win. If that does not include immersion, that's fine. I'm also of the opinion, that while I know what people mean generally when they talk about immersion, everyone is different in how you achieve that. I do value immersion, but I also value chocolate, I'm just not eating that every second of every day...
 





As I learned years ago when MUSHing, there's something to be said for roleplaying in a purely text environment.

I was once sitting in the Lego Lab at the MIT Media Lab, playing on MediaMOO (ca. 1993), and the text came up "(So-and-so) walks into the Lego Lab." I actually looked at the door to see who it was.

Is that immersion?
