Honestly, immersion is not the goal for me/us, it's a tool. We're playing a game/activity for fun/satisfaction, if whatever we're doing is fun/satisfactory, then we win. If that does not include immersion, that's fine. I'm also of the opinion, that while I know what people mean generally when they talk about immersion, everyone is different in how you achieve that. I do value immersion, but I also value chocolate, I'm just not eating that every second of every day...

As I learned years ago when MUSHing, there's something to be said for roleplaying in a purely text environment.

I was once sitting in the Lego Lab at the MIT Media Lab, playing on MediaMOO (ca. 1993), and the text came up "(So-and-so) walks into the Lego Lab." I actually looked at the door to see who it was.

Is that immersion?

Um ok, you are wrong, don't post to me anymore.
Mod Note:

That’s…kinda rude, there.

And instead of telling another poster to “don’t post to” you anymore, better practice would be to disengage and simply not respond to them or (privately) put them on your ignore list.

Maybe of a sort?

That's the problem as addressed earlier in this thread; people tend to have a couple different definitions at least: immersing your self into the character and immersing yourself into the game (if you get the distinction I'm making here).

I do.
