Improved familiar?

Does anyone know if any of the third-party d20 companies has published an Open equivalent of the Improved Familiar feat (T&B, FRCS)? I'd love to use this in a conversion I'm working on, but I'd like to actually include an OGC version, rather than reference a closed WotC feat.

Hrm...

In general terms, then -- I haven't seen the actual text, and I don't want to be "tainted" by knowing to much about it -- what does this feat do? Does it just give you a longer list of choices than what you get in the PHB?

Bastion Press' monster book Minions has a similar feet- Inner Planar Familiar- which allows a mage to have a familiar hailing from the Inner Planes (sort of like an animental from Planescape in 2E). The book gives a template that can be added to normal animals for familiars, and it also lists a few unique monsters that can be had as familiars if a mage has this feat.
