Improved Skirmish

First Post
Hi folks,

I just wanna know if I get this right:

Improved Skirmish says that the scout deals additional 2d6 skirmish damage if he moves at least 20ft.

Right?

That means if my scout gets Greater Manyshot ever arrowed fired deals precised based damage.
Thus my scout of 12th level will move at least 20ft and fire two arrows as a standart action (Manyshot). Every arrow deals skirmish damage (Greater Manyshot) and deals 5d6 (3d6 for scout 12th and 2d6 for the feat) damage.

Do I get this right?

Cheers, Evil DM

It won't be easy to move 20' each round, especially not while remaining within 30' of your target. Twisty passages especially will cause you problems. Great when it works, though!

I've got a Ranger/Scout/Swordsage build I'm eager to play myself! ;)

Don't forget that you also get additional +2 to AC from Improved Skirmish.

Btw I'm currently playing human ranger/scout/dervish (ECL 7) with 50 ft speed and +4d6 skirmish damage (thanks to IS) and its quite satisfying.

Oh, and try to get your hands on Gloves of Agile Striking from Magic Item Compendium (page 105). For a mere 2200 gp you can boost your skirmish damage by an additional 2d6 for one round. This functions two times per day and works with ranged weapons, light weapons and nonlight finnesable weapons.

Cheers

I know this is a slightly different question but I wanted to ask it here.

Right. Now let's assume that you have both Rapid Reload and Crossbow Sniper on a Light Crossbow. This allows the Scout to Skirmish out to 60' and the Reload is now a free action (Same as that of a bow with multiple Iterative attacks).

Would you allow Greater Manyshot to apply to a Crossbow with those two feats added? The Rapid reload turns a L. Crossbow into a Bow (for all intents and purposes, as they work no different in Game Mechanics).

I have a build using crossbow sniper with scout levels, and it's nice, but I'd definitely rule it's not compatible with manyshot. Manyshot works with arrows, not bolts. Picky, perhaps, but that's how I'd rule.

You mean apart from provoking an AoO every time you load and every time you shoot, not adding Str modifier to damage (as can be done with a composite bow and a degree of Str bonus, or any bow and a Str penalty), etc?

Crossbow Sniper lets you use half your Dex for damage, so the Strength problem gets solved quite handily. And, seriously, you're a Scout. You're moving every damn turn. If you can't tumble to a spot that lets you avoid Attacks of Opportunity, then either of you're facing the jar of pennies on the battlemat, or your Scout license gets revoked.
