I use psionics, so there's no inconsitency for me, but I don't know if the OP does or not. In any case, it doesn't matter for me, since I banned Crystal Masks from my campaign on account of their brokenness.

Calling it a house rule requires that you be sure of the actual rule. Thus, explain to us the actual rule, complete with rules quotes supporting your position.

They give out a +10 bonus for like 10,000 gp - compare that to a +10 sword costing 200,000 gp, and that equals *crazy*. Besides, then I'd have to start worrying about adding Epic rules to my game, and I don't have the time for that.

So, no crystal masks in my game - munchkins can go play somewhere else!

That's a +10 to a SKILL not BAB. All but four are +10 (skill). One is +4 Will, One is +9 Search/Spot, one is +5 Knowledge, and one allows you to speak/write five languages.

Not broken.

What does the fact that it is not Core have to do with anything? The OP never specified if he wanted a Core only answer. I think you are being a little presumptious here.

They give a bonus to a skill. Not to attack and damage, not to ac, to a skill.

They're about as crazy wacko epic as a pair of boots of elvenkind or a ring of climbing.
