Van -- it looks like a Wand of Fireballs. 41 charges left. Not a bad find! It will do us well.

I'll start work on one of these potions right now...

But first... *Bronn casts light on Velm's boot* No need to thank me, Cousin.

That's no light!

Here's the type of relief Velm was realling looking for:

Maiden of the moon, grant to this your ally and champion your comfort for the injuries he has suffered in your service.

(OOC: Gain 7 + 5 + 3 = 15 points total. Hey, I'm a new cleric. I can only do the small spells right now. Cara, you might want to do some more for Roman--he was drowning, too, so I suspect he's still hurting. I'm fine now.)

Bronn, I suspect that you could damage this party, but destroy it? I wouldn't test it. Your warning about the lich is well-taken. He tried to trick us, and finally succeeding in doing so (with Hissenspit). We need to turn the tables on him.

I'm still contemplating Zandris and her attempt to raid the armory. Say she had managed to get access to all this mithril, maybe even sharing it with her allies of the Coil. What did they plan to do next? Take Eveningstar? What were they up to?

Velm:
"Get it out of your system now, Evoker, because soon we'll have no time for your court-jester routine.

"Lady of the Moon, I thank you humbly for the relief you have given me through your servant Snowcap. Cara...if it's all the same to you, I'm still troubled by a few light wounds. I'd like to be in perfect health when we leave this place.

"As for the lich, we would do well to remember what our jester-mage has pointed out: he has not actively tried to destroy us. Harm us? Yes. But if he wanted us dead he would have done it when he had the chance. Now whether that is due to Ruathgrym considering us not worth his time, or due to true repentance for his evil deeds, I would not hazard to guess.

"We have a waterwyrm to deal with, and we shouldn't needlessly stir up more trouble than we can handle right now."

(Roman)

I am confused about a fact. Didn't we find a magic buckler? Is this the magic buckler:

Ghost (small mithril, reflecting, shield of ghost touch +1) --can affect incorporeal creatures, reflect one spell per day exactly as spell turning.

OOC: If it is really a small shield that we found then can I use it (instead of my buckler) with a bastard sword? I have weapon focus and weapon specialization.

Also, Velm, you gave your armor to me when you took the original plate armor. Are you sure you don't want your armor back? My current Chain Mail is pretty strong (+2, for an armor bonus of +6).

Velm
"Thank you, Roman...but you can hold onto it. I'm now wearing the third of the three magical mithril chain shirts we found, and it fits quite nicely."

OOC: It really is a small shield, but since it is made of mithril it is very light. I'll get back to you with the answer to your question...let me post it on the Rules forum and see what folks say.

OOC: Bronn, it is a potion of cure serious wounds (3d8+10).

Velm: Hope this helps. Need more?

OOC: one moderate healing spell, 14

By the way.... I've been talking to people about what happened before I arrived (OOC: looking through the Story Hour again) with a view to writing a Saga when I get a chance.

It occurs to me to wonder.... we keep running across these individuals who turn out to be composed of people's heads with snake bodies, or with bodies that are a patchwork quilt of who knows what (or whom).

Are these beings still USING the heads that appear on their shoulders? Or might Zandris Winter in fact have been acting for whoever created her form? The Corpsecoil--why did he at first claim to be the Flamecoil, who made HIM into patchwork, and what might that mean for us?

It might be interesting as well to see beneath the cloak of that Zhentarim wizard (well, not TOO much beneath the cloak).

And while we've got some time....

....I think I'll muffle the drum again and try some more beats just to see whether anything happens. True, what the drum does so far is QUITE impressive. Worth at least looking. Or tapping. Or listening. Cautiously--if there seems to be the SLIGHTEST risk that it will bring problems down on our heads, I'll stop.

[OOC: Good idea...you can make a Performance check for using the drum.]

Velm:
"Ahh, that's perfect. Your songs have a healing balm in them. I feel like I could wrestle a wyrm...

"...and win!

"Cara, you have some interesting points about the Coil. Why were they 'assembling' servants? They were also obviously spawning all the trogs they could...

"But Ruathgrym, aka Corpsecoil, aka Flamecoil, wasn't made up of various parts. He's just been dead, technically, for a long long time."
