Just to clear things up, I'm not the least bit upset or heated up. I'm trying to clear up some misconceptions about something that I feel is very important, and very important to the industry, but I haven't once been frustrated or angry in this thread. I have been adamant, however. If I've come across as heated up, I apologize. Please understand that I'm not trying to be insulting or antagonizing in any way, and have been completely calm every time I've posted on the matter.SHARK said:Think about what it is that you are getting so upset over, you know?
My concern is that an impression will be left that buying reviews in a nearby industry is normal, and that if you purchase any reviewed thing and then complain about a publisher taking the stance that reviews should be bought then you're somehow being hypocritical.
This only leaves two types of people, if left as the truth: those who are hypocritical and those who are ok about reviews being bought. This applies directly to the topic at hand, does it not?
It's important, at least to me, that we not end this thread with so much gray. Are reviews sometimes bought? Yes. Is it the norm? No, and any impression that it is damages the entire critical community and the industry, again in my opinion.
PS: Mistwell, I can't find your email address (it's private, and the website you list doesn't make it clear which one is yours). Mine is available in my profile; please let me know.
