Just to clear things up, I'm not the least bit upset or heated up. I'm trying to clear up some misconceptions about something that I feel is very important, and very important to the industry, but I haven't once been frustrated or angry in this thread. I have been adamant, however. If I've come across as heated up, I apologize. Please understand that I'm not trying to be insulting or antagonizing in any way, and have been completely calm every time I've posted on the matter.

My concern is that an impression will be left that buying reviews in a nearby industry is normal, and that if you purchase any reviewed thing and then complain about a publisher taking the stance that reviews should be bought then you're somehow being hypocritical.

This only leaves two types of people, if left as the truth: those who are hypocritical and those who are ok about reviews being bought. This applies directly to the topic at hand, does it not?

It's important, at least to me, that we not end this thread with so much gray. Are reviews sometimes bought? Yes. Is it the norm? No, and any impression that it is damages the entire critical community and the industry, again in my opinion.

PS: Mistwell, I can't find your email address (it's private, and the website you list doesn't make it clear which one is yours). Mine is available in my profile; please let me know.

Avalance is wonderful! I could care less about what they said. Call me an uncaring evil sob or whatever but I don't care. Let their products stand on their own. I think it's silly to care about what some frp book publisher has to say about bad reveiws. Stop being cry babies. Alvalanche, if you are out there you have my support. How you feel is how you feel. Let the babies cry over it all they want oh and by the way I like your covers, and I'm not afraid to admit it either. I;'m sure I will get flamed for this but oh well that's to be expected considering the way they are handling this.

Why are you flaming? How are you exhibiting your advanced maturity by calling people names and insulting them?

Odd perspective.

Greetings!

"Greetings!

Wow...Hold the phone you guys! Don't you think that you guys--Mistwell, Doc Moriarty, Fast Learner--maybe a few others that I missed--are taking this whole thing a bit *too* seriously? I'm not trying to bite at any of you--just asking you to maybe reassess your perspective on the matter. You guys are arguing and getting heated up over what?--the supposed review policies of different companies, sometimes in different industries? Maybe something that I missed, but why are you guys arguing such a ethereal point? Not saying that persona A can't have an opinion that it should be done one way, and person B has a different opinion,--but you guys are *arguing* over something that to the best of my knowledge--none of you has any direct control over in any way. In any event, why are you letting such a trivial subject upset each other so much for?

Think about what it is that you are getting so upset over, you know? Originally, this thread was about the policies of a company that no one here even works for, and about their apology letter. What is there to really fight about?

Just some thoughts.

Semper Fidelis,

SHARK"

Yes, I'm quoting myself. I think my comments are still relevant.:)

Theuderic, why are you trying to antagonize Dragongirl and Fast Learner? Having an opinion that you like Avalanche Press is fine--but don't you think that your comments are unneccessarily provocative?

Look, in what, three posts, Dragongirl and Fast Learner are being what?--Crybabies? Well, again, think about what is so important about this virtually meaningless thread that is worth getting all worked up over, and getting into fights with people over.

Just some thoughts, because in my opinion, people are letting themselves get worked up over a subject specifically that isn't that important, and few if any people here have any ability to control in any way whatesoever.

FAST LEARNER: Your comments are noted, sir.:) It seemed though, to me as a reader, that your commentary combined with others was beginning to merely generate harsh feelings. It is those harsh feelings and resentments being displayed that seemed to be taking this subject far too seriously. Indeed, the subject itself, to a professional degree is important in concept--I agree with you--but is it so important to get into an argument over it with a different member who doesn't agree with you, or share your level of concern?

Does that make sense? Hopefully, as I have no intention of offending you.:)

Semper Fidelis,

SHARK

No offense at all, of course. I'm sometimes (often?) blind to how my words or style may come across as argumentative.

There's a really fine line between argumentative and adamant. :)

I'm sure Theuderic is trolling us. Get out the fire and acid, boys and girls! :D
