In Print Fantasy Games

Just looking to start gaming again soon. Wondering what I should play at.

Rolemaster Classic: Loved it back in the day.

Warhammer FRPG 2nd ed: Loved it. Way different feel than RM.

Fantasy Hero: If I ran this, it'd be with Forgotten Realms 'old school' around the Grey Boxed era of 1st ed with a few clarifications from latter books.

Gurps Fantasy: M'eh. I like Gurps but while it handles fantasy fine, I'm more likely to run something else. I prefer Gurps for more modern uses.

Iron Gauntlets: Can someone explain this one to me? It's not something I've messed with but have seen it a few times.

Burning Wheel: Own the revised edition. Did they ever revise the Monster Burner? I wouldn't mind giving it a go just to see what type of characters the players would make.

L5R 3rd edition: Good game but the editing man! The editing! The googles do nothing!

If I had to pick one right now, it'd be Artesia. Or maybe Ars Magica. There's some stuff in both those systems I'd really like to see how they play out.

MonBu was designed in parallel with BWr, iirc. It's intended for use with BWr.

I'd also suggest The Riddle of Steel and The Shadow of Yesterday, and second Artesia.

No, and there is very little in the Monster Burner that needs revising. The errata on burningwheel.org covers it thouroughly.
(It looks long, but isn't. It is not really made for revised edition BW, but some of the things in the revised edition premiered in Monster Burner.)

Other good FRPGs in print:

HeroQuest

Sorcerer & Sword (which is really a supplement for Sorcerer)
Dictionary of Mu (a setting for Sorcerer & Sword)

Oh, heggzie-yeah.

I'm currently considering Savage Worlds Evernight campaign. Haven't deviced yet though.

These days, I'm interested in rules that I don't have to re-learn when I move onto the next campaign or genre.

That's one reason I'm looking at Savage Worlds. I'd also consider Fantasy HERO (and make up my own world, or consider their Valdorian Age supplement), or M&M 2.0 for a d20 version that's similar in concept.

If you want rules that are specifically written for fantasy, and I'm assuming you're not looking for D&D, then were I in your shoes, I'd look at Conan, but maybe wait until the updated rules come out later this year.
