Info on upcoming S&SS/Scarred Lands Releases!

If only to see what good stuff comes out of it, I do agree my scribe. But I do think Edge might have something for a lot of people. Certainly we'll get a clearer idea of what all is involved in the possible planar make up of the Scarred Lands. But the Termana HC, yeah should be great. I can't wait to look it over.

From what I recall at the D*C panel, Termana isn't running far behind but they've been having problems with their printers. I think it's planned right now at the tail end of this month.

Asaatthi has been pushed back to November IIRC. This is honestly one of the better books I've seen recently (since I've worked on this one.) Andrew Bates also seemed quite proud of it at the panel. I have a feeling this will be one of the better SL books to come out this year in my incredibly biased opinion.

This is a happy time for me, seeing a lot of my work coming out all at once (CCRev, PGFB, Termana, Asaatthi, and later on down the line Edge.)

Oh, and to answer the question... I think they decided to skip doing a gazeteer for Asherak and go straight to a hardcover. Maybe the Termana Gazateer didn't do as well as they expected?

I liked the Gazeteer's. Made it helpful to determine if buying the whole setting book was worth it (or worth even looking at).

...plus the gazetteers had those nifty maps - it would be nice if they posted a pdf preview of the Asherak map on their site (and they should include an Asherak poster map with the hc)

It wouldn't surprise me if the Termana Gazetteer didn't do so hot; part of the success of the Ghelspad one would be, in my opinion, the fact that before it was printed, there really weren't any details on the world outside of the few city books (I think Burok Torn might have been out before the Gazetteer, though don't quote me on that) and the sketchy sentences here and there in all the other books. When it came out, it was the setting book if you wanted to play in the Scarred Lands. Termana didn't have that going for it; it also has that "other continent" thing going for it that keeps the Forgotten Realms popular, and settings like Al-Qadim, Maztica, and so on, fairly obscure and now unpublished. Those who felt obligated to buy Ghelspad, wouldn't feel the same about Termana.

Maybe that's not the case, but, it makes sense.

Personally, so long as the Asherak hardcover comes with a map, I'll be happy. My wallet would certainly appreciate not buying a Gazetteer AND a hardcover book about the same topic; I've both the other Gazetteers, but do believe it to be a good thing if they just skip'em and put all the info in one book.

I'd agree trickstergod. SLCS: Ghelspad (and to a limited extent the gazateer) offered to the Scarred Lands the ability to see the campaign setting, and I'll be honest, I felt like I couldn't run the scarred lands before that. That didn't really happen so much with Termana and so, in many ways, the gazateer was useful only for those who wanted to play in Termana and couldn't wait for the hard cover. That probably hampered sales (the only reason I have it is because of comp for my work on the heraldry) and I think few would mind if they went straight to a hardcover. A gazateer would just occupy time and push back the already tight schedule at S&SS and push back the release date of the hardcover.
