Initiate of the Old Faith

Zephrin the Lost

First Post
Help me understand this feat - thanks!

So the PC can turn into an animal, but gains no movement type or speed- they can be a flightless bird, a monkey that can't climb any better than the feat-taker could in human form, etc?

Also, does the feat-taker need to be in animal form to activate the attack power that comes with the feat? Is that the only power they can use while in animal form?

Thanks in advance,

Wildshaping does' change any stats or mechanical effects for your character, except for the ability to use beastform/non-beastform powers. If you want to be able to fly or climb or anything else like that, there are feats and druid Utility powers for such things. So if you only dabble into druidism, the usefulness of changing into an animal are limited (good for scouting, maybe). But if you actually spend time studying it you can expand upon the power and make it useful for other things.

You gain one beastform power as part of the feat, and that is indeed the only power you can use while wild shaped. Unless you spend further feats to gain more beastform powers, that is.

IMO this is probably one of the most useless multiclass feats around. "Look at me! I can change into an animal that can do one thing! I can't run, fly, swim or do anything my animal form can do, but don't I look cool not doing it!"

Sorry, I like the Druid, but the wildshape ability is seriously nerfed. (Do I sound bitter? :p)

Doesn't work, you'd be a medium-sized pigeon.

It is a bit of an odd feat. If you get some of the other feats that improve Beast Form (+5 stealth, +4 init. Regain Second Wind when you use beast form. etc.,) it can be pretty useful.

You're not looking at it the right way.

Wild Shape is completely flexible in that you -can- become the form you want... you just have to invest in the powers that allow you to use that forms abilities.

For multiclassing, it allows you access to a melee basic attack 1/round and with a second feat, Shifty. More flexibility in your form is gotten by getting more powers; but the onus is on the player to roleplay it (i.e. choose forms) appropriately.

Wait, are you talking about a full Druid's Wild Shape?
Can't a full Druid fly (1st level) if he takes the form of a bird?
